So what does a HRIS Specialist do? As an HRIS Specialist, you are part of a global team responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and usability of employee data and HR systems—primarily Workday.

You'll be an individual contributor role within the global HRIS team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of employee data across the employee lifecycle. This role handles employee data transactions and manages tickets from multiple geographies, delivering high-quality, compliant support that aligns with global service level agreements. Reporting to the HRIS Supervisor, the Specialist maintains data integrity in Workday and related systems, resolves transactional issues, and escalates as needed. The role also contributes to system testing, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional coordination to optimize tools and workflows that support HR operations. Due to access to confidential and sensitive employee information, the role requires a high level of discretion, professionalism, and adherence to data privacy standards—any mishandling or breach may lead to disciplinary consequences.

Success depends on your attention to detail, discretion with sensitive data, and collaborative mindset. You'll be working across time zones, supporting a global workforce, and contributing to the consistent and secure delivery of people systems.

As a HRIS Specialist, your responsibilities include:

  • Deliver day-to-day support for employee data transactions from pre-employment through offboarding, ensuring accuracy and compliance in Workday and other HR systems.

  • Maintain and protect confidential employee data with a high degree of discretion and responsibility.

  • Provide global production support by researching and resolving HCM process and data issues, collaborating closely with the HR Operations team and other key stakeholders.

  • Respond to tickets, emails, and chats from internal users as needed, escalating to the HRIS Supervisor for complex or sensitive cases.

  • Monitor Workday inbox and ensure timely execution of assigned tasks, keeping data clean and audit-ready.

  • Collaborate with HRIS team members across regions to ensure alignment, consistency, and adoption of shared best practices.

  • Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) for new functionality, working with IT or Business Analysts to validate system behavior before release to production

  • Support team efforts in HRIS-EDM process maturity by sharing feedback and participating in process discussions when needed and executing the HRIS-EDM framework

  • Take on occasional tasks or small projects as assigned, showing flexibility and willingness to help where needed.

Requirements:

  • 1–2 years of experience in HRIS support, employee data management, or HR operations, preferably in a Shared Services or multi-geo setup.

  • Working knowledge of Workday or similar HRIS platforms.

  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to data accuracy and compliance.

  • Ability to manage case queues and meet deadlines in a high-volume, service-driven environment.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills; comfortable responding to stakeholders across channels.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Willingness to engage with teammates, contribute to a positive team culture, and support collaboration across time zones.

  • Flexibility to work in shifting schedules—this role supports a 24/7 global ticket queue, and shift assignments may change following shift bids to align with case volume patterns.

  • A strong sense of professional integrity—this role involves handling highly sensitive employee data. Any misuse, negligence, or breach of data privacy may be subject to disciplinary action in line with company policies.

  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to process improvement conversations.

  • Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

    • Familiarity with Workday reporting or configuration.

    • Experience with Salesforce, ServiceNow, Jira, or similar ticketing systems.

    • Background in multi-geo Shared Services or HR operations.

    • Exposure to system testing or Workday reporting

    • Comfort working across different time zones and collaborating with remote/global teams

Preferred Skills:
  • Exposure to data privacy concepts, access control, or audit support is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Workday calculated fields, security groups, or business process frameworks.

  • Proficiency in Excel, documentation tools (e.g., Word, Confluence), and basic data analysis techniques.

  • Interest in building a career in Workday reporting, data governance, or enterprise analytics.
