Job Description

Purpose of the role

To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution. 

Accountabilities

  • Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
  • Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
  • Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.
  • Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
  • Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.
  • Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

In this pivotal role you will manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives, and compliance with relevant regulators. You will take ownership of your work, ensuring it aligns with the relevant rules & regulations, and codes of conduct.

 You will focus on supporting and delivering a high-quality client experience by handling underwriting activities with accuracy, ownership, and efficiency. The role holder is expected to make prompt and informed decisions using various risk assessment and affordability tools while ensuring strong compliance with governance, risk, and control standards within Barclays.
You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role such as:

  • Conduct credit underwriting and affordability assessments in line with regulatory and lending guidelines.
  • Deliver accurate and timely decisions while ensuring high-quality client experience.
  • Take ownership of customer queries and drive issues through to resolution.
  • Ensure adherence to governance, risk management, compliance, and control standards.
  • Support operational efficiency by using financial analysis, fraud detection, and underwriting tools effectively.

  • Strong understanding of credit underwriting, lending operations, and financial analysis.
  • Proactive, accountable, and control-focused mindset with the ability to work independently or in teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with good command of English.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong experience in handling complex back-office operations and process management.
