HARMAN, a Stamford, Connecticut-based subsidiary of Samsung Electronics focused on automotive technology, has announced a ₹345 crore investment, worth approximately $42 million USD, to expand its automotive electronics plant in Pune.
This includes an immediate investment of ₹45 crore, followed by an additional ₹300 crore over the next few years to support advanced telematics systems and next-generation automotive connectivity programs, according to a news release.
With this latest investment, HARMAN’s total investment in the Pune facility has reached ₹554 crore. The facility currently serves as a global hub for connected car technologies, including digital cockpits, telematics units and car audio systems.
As part of the expansion, the facility will gain 71,505 square feet of additional built-up space, including a 45,000-square-foot production floor designed to support new product lines and enhanced manufacturing capabilities.
HARMAN reported the project is expected to generate around 300 new jobs in the Pune region by 2027.
