Manage global equity settlement operations across international markets, including trade matching, settlement exception resolution, cash and position reconciliations, and aged-fail remediation. Coordinate with custodians, counterparties, trading, finance, compliance, and engineering teams. Support SEC, FINRA, and global regulatory controls, reporting, audits, and process improvements. Use SQL, Metabase, and automation tools to improve operational efficiency and analytics.

Command high-severity production incidents from declaration through mitigation, coordinating technical responders, severity decisions, escalations, stakeholder communications, regional handoffs, and post-incident follow-up. Maintain accurate incident timelines, ensure retrospectives and accountable action items, and improve response processes through automation. The role requires participation in a global 24x7 incident commander roster and familiarity with fintech and regulated API-driven platforms.

Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems supporting Alpaca’s financial ledger and brokerage infrastructure. Own high-visibility features from design through deployment, collaborate with finance, operations, product, and engineering stakeholders, and improve system health. Build performant, reliable, maintainable services using modern distributed systems technologies while ensuring the ledger remains a correct source of truth for account transactions, reporting, and compliance.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop and maintain Alpaca's platform services, including event streaming infrastructure and authentication systems, while ensuring software quality and reliability.

Support Alpaca's Financial Crimes team by investigating AML, sanctions, and fraud alerts; prepare SAR narratives; perform KYC/CDD/EDD reviews; screen against sanctions/PEP lists; respond to regulatory and law enforcement requests; improve transaction monitoring and compliance controls.

Lead insider risk and data loss investigations from triage to closure, operate and tune DLP across environments, build detections and workflows, partner with HR/Legal/Compliance/IT, mature insider risk program, support audits, and mentor others.

Operate and improve brokerage platform reliability: on-call incident response, define SLIs/SLOs, enhance observability, deploy infrastructure via GitOps, and own PostgreSQL performance, migrations, HA/DR, and mentoring.
