About the role

Chime is looking for an Accounting Intern to join our Finance and Accounting team.  You’ll be hands-on with real-world accounting operations, from preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts to supporting SOX compliance and financial reporting. You’ll gain valuable professional experience working with cutting-edge cloud technology platforms and collaborating with a team that’s passionate about building a stronger financial foundation for our members. This is an exciting opportunity to learn while contributing to a critical initiative at Chime!

This role is structured as a 3 month engagement. The starting hourly rate offered for this role and target level of experience will begin at $25 and up to $35. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience. 

In this role, you can expect to 

  • Assist in daily accounting operations, including maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end close activities.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate reflection of financial transactions in the general ledger.
  • Perform account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate account balances.
  • Support the preparation of financial statement footnotes and disclosures in compliance with applicable standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Collaborate with team members to gather and analyze financial data for reporting purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls by documenting processes, maintaining proper internal control documentation, and assisting in walkthroughs and testing.
  • Participate in audits by organizing and providing documentation for internal and external audit requests.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and suggesting solutions for operational enhancements.

To thrive in this role, you  

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or a related field
  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Creative thinker and self starter with a passion for consumer FinTech
  • Are flexible and enjoy doing whatever it takes to execute on complex projects
  • Have a low ego and are comfortable working directly well with a wide range of stakeholders
