Purpose of the Role  

Discover was launched under the Springer imprint in 2020. Discover series is now a distinct imprint (to sit alongside Springer, BMC, Nature Portfolio, and Palgrave), as we believe that Discover’s growth will be significantly greater with a unique identity. The AEs are responsible for processing Manuscript from submission through to Acceptance and Support EBMs throughout all steps of the process, creating excellent working relations ships with them. The team also ensures smooth communication between the various parties involved in the publication process; (Authors, Reviewers, EBM, Guest editors, Readers, etc. for the assigned manuscript) 
 

Responsibilities  

• Responsible for overseeing the overall pipeline of the Journal and processing manuscripts from the point the initial submission is marked 'Ready for Editorial' through to final decision, demonstrating strong organizational skills, time management, workflow management, and attention to detail.
• Perform enhanced Quality Checks on manuscripts to ensure they meet requirements for editor assignment and peer review, utilizing analytical skills, logical reasoning, quality assurance, and critical thinking.
• Invite potential EBMs to handle manuscripts or assign manuscripts to an appropriate handling editor, leveraging decision-making skills, stakeholder management, and editorial judgment.
• Identify and invite suitable reviewers for peer review activities through effective research skills, network building, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Support Editors throughout all stages of the editorial process, creating excellent working relationships through relationship management, collaboration, customer service orientation, and interpersonal skills.
• Collaborate and build rapport with Journal Editorial staff to drive continuous improvement, updates, and new initiatives by applying teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, change management, and process improvement skills.
• Handle email correspondence with Authors, Reviewers, Editors, Guest Editors, and Readers, demonstrating written communication, professional communication, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution skills.
• Assess decision recommendations from Handling Editors and communicate final decisions to authors using analytical thinking, decision-making skills, editorial awareness, and professional judgment.
• Monitor manuscript progress through OTR and provide support to facilitate timely final decisions, showcasing performance monitoring, problem-solving, time management, and process coordination skills.
• Mentor and support new team members by applying leadership, coaching, people development, knowledge sharing, and team-building skills.
• Support Technical Checks at initial and revision submission stages through strong technical proficiency, quality control, attention to detail, and compliance management skills.
• Provide inputs to improve processes, reduce turnaround times (TAT), and manage the manuscript pipeline efficiently by utilizing continuous improvement, analytical skills, process optimization, data-driven decision making, and performance management skills.
• Provide training and support during the sign-off process for new team members, demonstrating training delivery, leadership, coaching, performance evaluation, and knowledge transfer skills.

• 2+ Years  

Skills

• Should have an overall work experience of 2years, with a minimum of 1 year in SNTPS 
• Excellent communication, leadership and analytical skills 
• Proficient computer skills — MS Word, Excel, and Google Suite 
• Good knowledge of performance metrics 
• Organizational and time-management skills 
• Strong analytical and logical reasoning ability 
• Decision-making skills 

Qualifications       

• Master’s degree or equivalent in - HSS/Life science/Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Computer Science
