General Summary:

We are looking for a Associate Data Engineer who will design, implement and support an analytical data infrastructure providing ad-hoc access to large datasets and computing power.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Design, implement and support an analytical data infrastructure providing ad-hoc access to large datasets and computing power.
  2. Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS big data technologies.
  3. Create and support real-time data pipelines built on AWS technologies including Glue, Redshift/Spectrum, Kinesis, EMR and Athena.
  4. Continually research the latest Big Data and visualization technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.
  5. Work closely with team members to drive real-time model implementations for monitoring and alerting of risk systems.
  6. Collaborate with other tech teams to implement advanced analytics algorithms that exploit our rich datasets for statistical analysis, prediction, clustering and machine learning.
  7. Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying customer self-service support.
Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  2. Strong foundation in data modelling, ETL development, and data warehousing. Familiarity with Spark and AWS big data technologies (e.g., Redshift, S3, EMR, Spark).
  3. Ability to manipulate, process, and extract value from large datasets, with a passion for data-driven decision-making.
  4. Enthusiasm for researching and implementing the latest technologies in Big Data and visualisation.
  5. Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles.
  6. Strong team player with excellent communication skills, capable of working closely with other tech teams to achieve shared goals.
  7. Knowledge of AWS big data technologies (Redshift, S3, EMR, Spark).
  8. Willingness to continually learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on software engineering best practices.
  9. Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations.
