Summary:
This role is responsible for the end-to-end management and strategic development of fiction content, ensuring high-quality programming that resonates with diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering successful fiction shows and a passion for innovative content creation.
About the team:
The team is responsible for creating and delivering innovative content that appeals to a wide range of viewers for the Channel. Through a combination of creative and culturally relevant fiction, nonfiction, and event programming execution, this team is critical in defining the channel's identity and increasing viewer engagement on the channel. They are committed to pushing boundaries in entertainment and offering viewers content that is charged that inspires, excites, and engages them across the channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees the entire production process for fiction shows, including ideation, pre-production, shooting, post-production, and final delivery.
- Collaborates with creative teams, directors, writers, and production houses to develop compelling fiction content.
- Drives the creative direction of fiction shows by developing unique, engaging storylines.
- Ensures stories resonate with the target audience by tracking changing viewer preferences and trends in Malayalam television.
- Identifies opportunities for innovative storytelling formats and unconventional story arcs to differentiate Asianet’s content from competitors.
- Works with the marketing team to create promotional strategies and campaigns.
- Coordinates with the research and insights team to understand content performance and implement necessary changes.
- Identifies, onboards, and manages talent including directors, writers, actors, and technicians.
- Ensures all fiction programming meets Asianet’s quality benchmarks.
- Reviews scripts, rough cuts, and final episodes to ensure adherence to channel guidelines and standards.
- Prepares and manages budgets for fiction shows.
- Stays updated on trends in the Malayalam and Indian entertainment industry to develop trendsetting fiction shows.
- Benchmarks Asianet’s fiction programming against competitors and strives to improve the channel’s market leadership.
Skills & Attributes for success:
- Knowledge of TV Production.
- Good command over Malayalam language and culture.
- Strong ideation, storytelling, creative and evaluation skills.
- Created and/or led highly successful fiction properties and proven team player and leader.
- Challenger attitude - Never settle for less and willing to take risks.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Story/screenplay writers with Malayalam language proficiency (read, write, and speak)
- Candidates from the TV/Broadcast/OTT industry will be preferred.
- Candidates with minimum 8-10 years of work experience in visual media, channel, or production house. GEC experience will be an added advantage.
- Graduate and/ or P.G. in Mass Communication, Film & TV Production Any course in writing/visual media will be an added advantage.
- Individuals with basic computer knowledge, familiarity with other General Entertainment Channel (GEC) shows, the ability to prepare comprehensive research documents, extensive reading habits.
- Understand and analyze BARC ratings and make content changes to impact viewership.
