The role involves selecting and managing non-fiction content production for a channel, collaborating with various stakeholders to deliver engaging stories that resonate with viewers.
Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for selecting and shaping non-fiction content that will create significant business value, bring new consumers to the channel and add a freshness to the menu served on the channel. In short, it is the role of a creative manager who holds the storytelling process from end-to-end.
About the team:
Star Jalsha is the #1 BGEC channel in India. It is known for its engaging content that resonates with the Bengali culture and traditions and is the creative powerhouse and source for many successful adaptations across other channels. The team is responsible for driving the creative engine, understanding consumers and society, reaching out to audiences driving traffic to the channel and for promoting shows, boosting awareness and encourage viewing.
Reporting to - Executive Vice President - Creative & Content, Star Jalsha
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver Non-Fiction content that supports and resonates with the channel philosophy, viewers, business objectives and targets.
- Oversee all stages of production Build a content pipeline which delivers on future needs and evolving consumer and societal trends.
- Leverage data and insights to the show’s narrative and character development and to increase consumer engagement.
- Collaborate with department heads, consumer strategy and Production Houses, producers, writers, directors to shape and deliver cutting edge content.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Creative Communications teams to build and promote content on strong propositions that resonate with viewers.
- Collaborate with Commercial teams to fine-tune budgets to content needs (on need basis).

- Passion for content and deep understanding of storytelling.
- Comfort with scale and pace.
- Deep interest in India and social trends, including viewer behavior and evolving tastes and affinities.
- Stakeholder Management.
- Excellent collaboration, communication and persuasion skills.
- Ability to deliver within tight deadline.
- Strong editorial judgement and ethical standards.
- Proficiency in Bengali.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Graduate with minimum 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Must have managed high impact and large-scale productions.
