The Indicator Research Team work closely with existing ESG Risk Rating teams in other locations to deliver research for Sustainalytics' suite of ESG products to clients, notably our flagship ESG Risk Rating.
Role: The Data Research Manager will manage the day-to-day research activities for a team of analysts focused on ESG research. The Manager leads a group of team leads and works with internal partners to meet agreed-upon research commitments. The role is responsible for the team's delivery of high-quality and timely research that meets product requirements. The person will be accountable for ensuring and improving the team's performance, productivity, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:• People Management
o Build and lead a team of analysts by providing clear direction, establishing SMART goals, and optimizing resource allocation
o Stimulate team members to enhance their understanding of relevant ESG& corporate governance impact related aspects and to improve analyst guidance on related research indicators
o Coach and train team leads/senior analysts to develop the necessary managerial and leadership skills, technical competence, and content expertise
o Effectively motivate and reward the team and their team leads for maintaining and raising morale• Research Output Management
o Lead effective research planning, analyze team performance, and produce monthly reports for senior management
o Ensure timely delivery of research, meeting varied research requirements.
o Monitor and report on data point output accuracy (DPO) and completeness, driving initiatives to meet defined quality benchmarks• Business Process Improvement
o Drive adoption of AI-assisted research tools and track efficiency gains against defined targets.
o Use LEAN Six Sigma and such approaches to improve the research process continuously
o Map and document processes in SOPs
o Perform issue management and conduct root cause analysis for reported issues

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in any discipline
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in secondary research/data operations. Experience with ESG/sustainability is a must
- 3+ of experience in coaching team leads/senior analysts in team management roles
- Prior experience in hiring research analysts, setting up research teams, overseeing research activities, improving research processes, and delivering research
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, international, and technical environment
- Strong analytical, entrepreneurial, and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to proactively identify and manage risks
- Ability to effectively communicate with local and international stakeholders at all levels and form strong relationships
- Strong project management and execution skills and proven experience optimizing processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint
- Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of AI/NLP tools used in research workflows is preferred.
