The Associate Network Engineer is responsible for contributing to the organization's overall network design, installation, and maintenance. This includes network designs to ensure wired and wireless voice and data and VPN network connectivity between all Greenway offices, remote users, and client support connections. This position operates as part of a Network Engineering team within the IT department in an apprentice capacity to the Sr. Network Engineer. With an emphasis on security, reliability, and growth, the AssociateNetwork Engineer will use experience in networking to develop creative solutions to a complicated computer network with the assistance of the Sr. Network Engineer. The AssociateNetwork Engineer also installs, maintains, and trains, as needed, other IT System Admin or IT Help Desk staff on properly operating the network solution.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Installation & Configuration: Set up and configure network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Maintenance & Support: Perform routine checks, upgrades, and repairs; provide technical support for network users.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Analyze network traffic, diagnose issues, and resolve connectivity problems.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, and processes.
- Collaboration: Work with senior engineers and other IT teams on projects and daily operations.
- Interface with Greenway's clients to install, troubleshoot and maintain VPN and other support-related connectivity solutions

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma/GED
- BA/BS in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent work experience/technical school education
- Cisco CCNA R&S required, with plans to complete Cisco CCNP certification
- Two (2)+ years supporting enterprise voice/data/VPN
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Understanding of IP protocols, subnets, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention, ACS, TACACS+, VPN, Cisco Routers, Switches, IEEE cabling standards, Dynamic routing protocols
- Hardware and software troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of Cisco network equipment and utilities
- Ability to think creatively to solve complex problems
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Strong customer service skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for most of the workday
- This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard most of their workday
- This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for extended periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/ or mobile devices.
- The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
- May need to lift up to 50 pounds
