Transaction Management is responsible for the post execution process of Confirmation and Settlement and related supporting functions including regulatory transaction reporting
Team Overview
Primarily responsible for (1) supporting the accurate & timely confirmation, settlement & reporting of transactions and payments executed by BlackRock
Successful applicants will be part of the broader Global Transaction Management team providing support in Edinburgh and to other locations as necessary. A key part of the function is maintaining a good working relationship with all BlackRock counterparties, providers, and internal clients.
Successful applicants will complete these activities in accordance with Blackrock’s global best practices and through the application of internal controls, operational processes and procedures as notified to you. Successful applicants will ensure that their Team Leader/Manager is notified of all material service issues/risk items on a timely basis and work to resolve these as a matter of priority. Successful applicants will maintain an effective working relationship with fellow team members, other BlackRock departments, custodian banks and third party service providers.
Role Responsibility
• Monitor the status of BlackRock's MIFID regulatory reporting, ensuring that BlackRock's reporting obligations are timely and accurate
• Identify MIFID regulatory reporting rejections and drive the resolution of the rejections with the key internal and external stakeholders
• Conduct and complete daily end of day regulatory reporting reconciliations to ensure that BlacKRock's reporting obligations are complete
• Monitor status of executed trades for various securities, cash & derivative instruments to ensure timely confirmation in line with BlackRock standards.
• Monitor trade activity to identify unmatched & failing trades & payments and take necessary action to prevent/resolve all failing transactions and minimise settlement risk.
• Participate and assist in local, regional, and global initiatives, in particular strategic testing initiatives
• Escalate all material risk items (such as large fails/confirmation issues) and service issues to your Team Leader on a timely basis.
• Support the team with any required record keeping, information gathering & reporting.
• Responsibility for fielding day-to-day queries along with inquiries from internal Blackrock groups, problem solving or directing inquiries where appropriate, while providing high quality client service externally and internally.
• Liaise with brokers and custodian banks to resolve issues.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines, function effectively and prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment with excellent attention to detail.
• Support colleagues in a regional and globalised team environment
• Assist in the generation and distribution of statistics relating to trade volume, confirmation & fail activity.
• Provide constructive and insightful feedback in relation to counterparty performance for regular reviews
Experience
Experience
Ideally but not a necessity, multiple years of experience in
• Trade settlement and trade confirmation roles across multiple asset classes and trade lifecycles
• Operational roles within a global financial environment
• Regulatory reporting roles
Competencies:
• Willingness to learn the client & investment lifecycle.
• Willingness to learn equity, fixed income, foreign exchange & other cash, security & derivative based instruments & market practice for confirmation & settlement.
• Possess a positive ‘can do’ attitude and methodical yet flexible approach to change whilst taking pride in ownership until completion/resolution.
• Proactively learn systems and the processes behind the theory of what they are completing and display proficiency in those core systems to efficiently solve problems and queries.
• Display confidence in providing solutions to open items or when addressing potential opportunities for process efficiencies
• Take responsibility for completion of tasks and projects from inception to completion on both a daily and ad hoc time scale
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with global contacts
• Time management and prioritisation skills
• Display a proactive and aspirational attitude to building a career in the investment management industry
• Maintain competence for role through on going participation in BlackRock training initiatives.
Skills
• Competent in all Microsoft office applications and in particular Microsoft Excel
