Toast Capital is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toast, Inc. that offers Toast restaurant customers fast and flexible financing for any business need. The Toast Capital team is seeking a highly-motivated Toast Capital Processing Specialist II who will play an active role in originating transactions. The role entails working with customers via written communication to convert eligible restaurants into Toast Capital customers. In this role, you will be an ambassador of the Toast Capital brand and proliferate Toast Capital’s goal to empower restaurants financially to thrive and do what they love. This individual’s efforts will have a significant impact on the long-term success of a rapidly growing product for Toast. The ideal candidate will have experience in a financial institution with a lending background that has significant attention to detail and strong organizational skills. 


A day in the life (Responsibilities) 

  • Apply established underwriting guidelines and policies to assess any potential risks in business during the application review and underwriting process.
  • Process and review documentation requested during underwriting review, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Manage account updates related to change of ownership and legal entity transitions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies.
  • Interact with loan applicants and business owners as needed to request additional information, clarify details, or address specific underwriting considerations, primarily through written communication.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines, and fair lending practices throughout the underwriting process.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements) 

  • 3-5 years of relevant commercial credit or loan processing experience 
  • Ability to work under pressure, strong attention to detail, self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills to track multiple applications, deadlines, and documentation requirements.
  • Analytical mindset and creative problem-solving 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience in professionally corresponding with customers via email, promptly addressing concerns, and de-escalating challenging situations to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain positive relationships.
  • Act as a key partner to both US-based and international business teams, ensuring a unified approach to Capital Operations and a smooth hand-off of information.
  • Adapt to changing policy and procedures on a constant basis while maintaining high quality to your work
  • Meet and/or exceed production, quality, and customer service goals while adhering to all internal Compliance requirements 
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Excel skills helpful
