The Team: Morningstar's Compliance department supports Morningstar's global business entities, primarily focusing on those registered with and governed by regulatory authorities. Our compliance professionals help each Morningstar business entity adhere to the rules and regulations of the local regulatory and statutory authorities, assist with compliances of group policies and make sure that we conduct business with uncompromising ethics.
The Role: The Compliance department of Morningstar in India (Wealth, Retirement and Research or WRR) seeks a Management Trainee/Compliance Intern based in Mumbai, India, for a period of 12 months. The Management Trainee/Compliance Intern will work closely with the WRR Compliance team in India (and local and global colleagues from other units within Compliance, as necessary) to provide support in administering and maintaining the compliance program for India. Reporting to the Compliance Director/Compliance Officer (WRR) in India, this role will be based in the Mumbai office.
Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the routine compliances for India;
  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of the compliance monitoring program in India;
  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of the risk management program in India;
  • Assist in achieving compliance of the local personal trading policy;
  • Assist in putting together compliance trainings for employees and/or Board members;
  • Assist in reviewing marketing material;
  • Assist with certifications;
  • Providing compliance support for statutory and compliance audits, regulatory inspections etc.;
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of Board, Committee and Shareholder meeting papers, including minutes, in India;
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of company returns with regulators and maintain statutory records and registers;
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of regulatory reports, as applicable;
  • Assist with maintenance of statutory and regulatory records;
  • Assist with other compliance activities as the WRR Compliance team requires, e.g., research on regulatory changes.


Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate is someone who has cleared the Professional level examination of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India;
  • Someone with a Bachelor's degree or a professional qualification in corporate law/securities law could also be considered;
  • Freshers will be considered; experience is not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are a must;
  • Good organizational skills, with the flexibility and willingness to respond to changing priorities;
  • Good working knowledge of computers - particularly MS Office;
  • Responsive and able to balance and prioritize goals;
  • A strong team player with good engagement and collaboration skills with diverse groups of people;
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines;
  • Ability to manage time and plan own workload.
