The Role:
Our site in Pune, India is seeking a CMDB Librarian to join our team. The CMDB (Configuration Management Database) Librarian is responsible for managing and maintaining the CMDB, ensuring that it accurately reflects the IT environment and supports the overall IT service management (ITSM) processes. The role involves overseeing the storage, organization, and governance of configuration items (CIs) within the CMDB, ensuring that data is reliable, up-to-date, and consistent across the organization.
What You’ll Do:
- CMDB Data Management:
- Maintain and update the CMDB by ensuring that all configuration items (CIs) are accurately recorded and reflect the current state of the IT infrastructure.
- Oversee the proper classification, categorization, and relationships between CIs.
- Ensure that data within the CMDB is consistent, reliable, and aligned with business requirements.
- Monitor data quality and work to resolve discrepancies or issues with CMDB records.
- Governance and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards concerning CMDB management and data accuracy.
- Enforce standards for the creation, updating, and deletion of CIs.
- Perform periodic audits of the CMDB to identify and rectify any issues.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with IT operations, service management, and other teams to gather information about new or changed IT assets and ensure accurate CI documentation.
- Provide training and support to IT teams and other stakeholders on CMDB best practices and use.
- Collaborate with Incident, Change, Problem, and Release Management teams to ensure the CMDB accurately reflects changes in the IT environment.
- Reporting and Analytics:
- Create and generate reports from the CMDB to track the state of configuration items, identify trends, and assess compliance with CMDB standards.
- Support management and other stakeholders with metrics and data analysis related to configuration items.
- CMDB Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to improve CMDB processes, tools, and integrations to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Continuously improve the structure and content of the CMDB to meet changing business and IT needs.
- Tool Management:
- Manage and configure CMDB tools (e.g., ServiceNow and Discovery Engines) to ensure they are functioning effectively and supporting the necessary CMDB processes.
- Assist with tool integrations and automation to streamline the updating and management of CMDB data.
What We Seek:
- Experience:
- Proven experience in managing a CMDB or related configuration management processes within an ITSM framework.
- Familiarity with tools such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or similar ITSM/CMDB platforms.
- Knowledge of ITIL principles, particularly around Configuration Management and Change Management.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including servers, networking, databases, applications, and cloud environments.
- Familiarity with automation and data integration techniques for CMDB management.
- Analytical Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on data accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to analyze and interpret CMDB data to generate meaningful insights.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
