Job Description

The Data Analyst will partner with business stakeholders to understand and align business strategies and requirements with organizational priorities. The role requires strong collaboration with both business and technology teams to translate high-level business requirements into clear functional, non-functional, and data requirements.

A key focus of this role is to design and build data models from scratch, ensuring that business requirements are accurately converted into scalable and efficient data structures. The candidate will be responsible for defining data models (fact/dimension, star/snowflake schemas), establishing relationships, and enabling high-quality data solutions for downstream consumption.

The individual will work closely with design and development teams to ensure these data models are effectively implemented into technical solutions that meet business needs. Strong expertise in data modeling and SQL is mandatory, while visualization skills are considered secondary.

Your Responsibilities
  • Gather and validate business, technology, and data requirements to define scope, success criteria, and key metrics
  • Translate business requirements into data modeling requirements, including entities, relationships, and data structures
  • Design and build logical and physical data models from scratch (fact/dimension, star/snowflake schemas)
  • Define data granularity, hierarchies, and semantic layers to support analytics and reporting needs
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and architects to ensure data models align with enterprise data architecture
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance, including metadata definition and approval
  • Review and optimize data models for performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Support production issues by analyzing data/model design gaps and providing improvements
  • Lead discussions with stakeholders to align data model design with 3–6 month business priorities
  • Collaborate across teams to identify dependencies and ensure smooth delivery of data solutions
  • Use modeling and prototyping tools (Power BI or others) only to validate data models and business logic (not as primary responsibility)
The Essentials – You Will Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field
  • Proven experience in designing and developing logical and physical data models (fact/dimension, star/snowflake schemas)
  • Strong experience building data models from scratch (requirement analysis to implementation)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Must Have Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience in data modeling (design + build from scratch)
  • Expertise in SQL
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Fact & Dimension modeling
    • Star vs Snowflake schema
    • Data warehousing concepts
The Preferred – You Might Also Have
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience translating business requirements into data models and technical solutions
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams and challenge design decisions
  • Understanding of system design, architecture standards, and data security principles
  • Experience with Analytics & Data platforms such as:
    • Azure SQL DW, AAS, Power BI
    • Python, ADF, ADLS Gen2
  • Domain knowledge in Finance processes (GL, Cost Center, Profitability)
  • Exposure to SAP systems (ECC, CRM, Hybris)
  • Knowledge of planning applications (Hyperion, Enterprise Planning Management)
    Important Note :
  • Candidates with only visualization / Power BI experience without core data modeling design should not be considered
  • SQL + Data Modeling is mandatory (others are optional)
