DATA ENGINEER – JOB DESCRIPTION
This role requires working from our local Hyderabad office 2-3x a week.
INTRODUCTION:
We are seeking Data Engineers to join our Data team to deliver, maintain, and evolve our data platform, fulfilling our mission to empower our customers by giving them access to their data through reports powered by ABC Fitness. In this role, you’ll develop and maintain our data infrastructure and work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring data integrity, scalability, and efficiency. We are known for being an energized, fun, friendly and customer-focused cross-functional team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient data pipelines to serve data to report, using various cloud ETL tools.
- Design, implement and manage data workflows, ensuring seamless data orchestration and integration.
- Create and optimize SQL objects, including stored procedures, tables and views for great performance.
- Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across different stages of the pipeline.
- Monitor data pipelines and processes, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Ability to work on own initiative and take responsibility for delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and provide support in developing interactive dashboards using Power BI for data visualization.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, workflows, and data models. Adhere to best practices in data engineering and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- 2+ years of experience in a data engineering role
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Basic understanding of data management best practices
- Basic SQL and Python knowledge
- Ability to learn and work on different typess of databases, Azure SQL DB, Azure Synapse SQL Pool, AWS Redshift, MySQL, and more!
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Genuine passion about technology and solving data problems
- Structured thinking with the ability to break down ambiguous problems and open to learning data modelling designs
- Ability to learn and apply data to inform decision making and drive outcomes
- Ability to understand, document and convert business requirements into data models
- Driven and self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
- Comfortable learning innovative technologies and systems
- Willing to be part of a rotating on-call schedule
- Available for flexible work hours during weekdays and weekends to assist teams in various time zones. This is a rotating schedule, so it's not required every week
- Ability to work effectively with a remote team across multiple time zones
- Willing to be part of a rotating on-call schedule
AND IT’S GREAT TO HAVE:
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps and/or GitHub, Azure Data Factory and/or Apache Airflow would be beneficial but not required
- Experience building data models for Power BI
- Working knowledge of Gen 2 Azure Data Lake, Storage Account, Blobs, Azure Function, Logic App
- Working knowledge of AWS S3, EMR, EKR
