Designer
(Based at Activewear - Biyagama)

Empower transformation by becoming a driving force of change at MAS as we are on the lookout for a dedicated individual to join the team as a Designer. In this role, you will get the exposure to study, understand seasonal concepts, conduct trend/ industry analysis thereby assist in concept, design and product development, engage in sketching, design manipulation and illustrations that depicts customer interest and industry standards whilst, working closely with the technical team to execute the final garment according to customer requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain fashion awareness through reading, observing, customer portals, fashion shows and search engines and be updated as per the customer and market requirement in order to ensure the creation of desirable and unique designs/ concepts
- Assist in the preparation of exhibits/ displays for customer visits, obtain suitable garments by liaising with the relevant PDC teams whilst arranging same on a trend/ season-wise basis
- Prepare seasonal collections on allocated customers, review same with relevant superiors
- Prepare design specs for new styles as per the customer requirement by gathering relevant information from customer websites/ email requests and handover same to the relevant pattern maker in order to proceed with the sewing in a timely manner
- Obtain necessary fabric/ trims for styles by liaising with the Sourcing team to ensure all material are available for the timely construction
- Coordinate with the Senior Designers in maintaining and updating style details, obtain feedback on same whilst effectively utilising same when designing styles based on the customer’s profile
- Compile promotional presentations in order to highlight/ provide information on design/ product capability and market intelligence thereby optimising customer relationships
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Completed Degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred.
- 1 - 2 years of related industry work experience.
- Experience in basic pattern making would be advantageous
- Computer knowledge, experience with illustrator, Photoshop, Excel and Power Point understanding of basic garment fit and construction and fabric knowledge.
- Excellent reporting and presentation skills, with the ability to develop clear & insight-driven dashboards.
- Excellent communication skills in English and ability collaborate well with other relevant teams.
