We are seeking an experienced and highly-motivated Director of Quality Engineering to lead and grow our quality assurance and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with a strong technical background, a passion for building high-performing teams, and a proven track record of delivering quality at scale in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. This role is crucial to our success, as you will be responsible for defining and executing our quality strategy, ensuring the excellence of our products, and fostering a culture of quality throughout the organization.
What will you do?- Strategic Leadership:Develop, implement, and champion a comprehensive quality strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives. This includes defining best practices, setting quality standards, and establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on the effectiveness of our quality processes.
- Team Management and Growth:Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team of 20+ quality engineers, automation specialists, and test leads. Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Technical Excellence:Provide technical guidance and oversight for the team's efforts in automation, test framework development, test environment management, CI/CD integration, and data-driven testing. Ensure the team's technical skills are continuously evolving to meet the demands of our product roadmap.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:Partner with multiple cross-functional teams (100+ members) including product management, engineering, design, and support. Act as a key stakeholder in the product development lifecycle, ensuring quality is a shared responsibility and integrated into every stage from conception to release.
- Data-Driven Decision Making:Champion a data-driven approach to quality assurance. Utilize analytical tools and metrics to monitor product health, identify trends, and make informed decisions on resource allocation, risk mitigation, and process improvements.
- Project and Release Management:Oversee multiple projects and releases simultaneously, managing priorities, delegating tasks effectively, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products. Manage and mitigate risks associated with large-scale, complex projects spanning multiple teams.
- Tooling and Infrastructure:Drive the selection and implementation of quality-related tools and infrastructure, including but not limited to Jira, test case management systems, test reporting tools, and other analytical platforms.
- Hands-on Experience:Leverage a strong background as a hands-on engineer. Previous experience in product development, developing test frameworks, or building test infrastructure is essential to lead and guide the team effectively.
- 15+ years of experience in quality assurance and engineering, with at least 8+ years in a senior leadership role managing teams of 20+ people.
- Proven experience leading quality teams that are proficient in not only manual testing but also automation, test framework development, CI/CD pipelines, and data-driven testing.
- Experience in the cybersecurity or cloud services industry is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Extensive experience working with large-scale, cross-functional teams (50+ members) across multiple development, product, and business units.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Jira, test case management systems, and various reporting/analytical tools.
- A strong background in software engineering or a related technical field, with hands-on experience in developing tests, frameworks, or test infrastructure.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on people management and team development.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple complex projects and releases concurrently.
