About the Role
The Software Developer MES, Java, collaborates with global IT and Business teams within the Digital Automotive Manufacturing unit. The role focuses on developing secure, scalable enterprise-level MES solutions aligned with business needs and the DigITal strategy, while also supporting major incidents and daily operations from third-level operations.
What You Will Do
- Learn about our manufacturing approach and gain insight into our philosophy and mindset.
- Develop sustainable, robust, and secure Java application software, considering both business and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with IT and manufacturing teams to analyze requirements and design concepts aligned with the DigITal strategy, focusing on high performance, cost-efficiency, and usability—especially for the production shop floor.
- Support and maintain existing Java-based solutions.
- Contribute innovative ideas, concepts, and technologies to optimize software solutions.
- Act as an interface between Business and DigITal, communicating effectively with both internal and external (Automotive OEM) stakeholders.
- Review project requests to understand user needs and estimate the time and cost required for implementation.
- Conduct internal and business testing sessions, review solutions, ensure software quality, and take ownership of deliverables.
- Maintain software and provide third-level support to internal customers.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Over 3 years of experience in developing and managing enterprise-level, global, and mission-critical software systems as part of a team.
- Proven expertise 3+ years in Java (J2EE) development, with a solid understanding of JUnit, Web Services, REST, RMI, JMS, and JDBC.
- Proficient in using Eclipse as a development environment.
- Strong knowledge of database concepts and technologies.
- Understanding of fundamental cryptography concepts.
- Proficiency in handling, administering, and debugging enterprise application system landscapes.
- Solid experience with at least one major Unix distribution.
- Demonstrated ability and persistence in systematically analyzing and resolving complex problems.
Bonus Points if You Have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure and high availability concepts in an enterprise environment.
- Experience in software development using the SAP NetWeaver application server.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and related systems.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 and factory automation topics.
- Experience in manufacturing process analysis, design, and implementation within the MES landscape, particularly with SAP ME standards.
- Familiarity with test automation, TDD, and CI/CD practices.
