As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission-driven company. We cultivate a culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.
About the Role:
Core Services & Libraries builds and owns the shared Go libraries and platform capabilities that CrowdStrike's engineering organization runs on — data access, messaging, service communication, multi-cloud portability, observability, resilience, and feature management. When your team ships, it reaches every service in production.
You'll lead a growing, globally distributed team of engineers through a period where the scope and ambition of this team are expanding significantly. The work includes building new golden path libraries, extending multi-cloud abstractions, standing up resilience and disaster recovery primitives, improving the security posture of shared dependencies, and establishing the architectural governance model for the ecosystem. As a player-coach, you'll be technically credible enough to review architecture decisions and shape API designs, while building a team that can deliver on this breadth.
What your team builds — libraries, SDKs, platform services, and standards — is the connective tissue across the organization's platform charters. Workflow orchestration, autonomous operations, customer communications, and AI-powered developer tooling all depend on it.
What You'll Do:
Lead and grow the team — hire, develop, and retain strong engineers; set clear expectations and create an environment where people do their best work
Own the technical strategy — define the roadmap across data access, messaging, service communication, resilience, and multi-cloud, balancing new development with stability for a large downstream consumer base
Drive golden path initiatives — guide the creation of authoritative libraries that teams adopt because they're better than the alternative, with migration paths that make adoption practical at scale
Be a credible technical partner — review RFCs, weigh in on API design, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and help the team navigate the reality that every library change reaches across the entire engineering organization
Improve engineering effectiveness — systematically reduce operational toil so the team spends more time building
Manage execution and delivery — break down ambitious roadmap items into shippable increments, communicate progress and risks clearly to stakeholders
Champion developer experience — your consumers are internal engineers; measure adoption and satisfaction, and treat their experience as a product metric
Build an advocacy and consultation culture — your team is the go-to for architectural guidance on shared infrastructure; make sure engineers across the organization know what's available and that their feedback shapes what gets built next
Partner with Data Services, Infrastructure, SRE, and Observability — your libraries sit on top of their platforms; build strong working relationships that keep shared libraries aligned with operational reality
Establish architectural governance — build tiered RFC and review processes that ensure decisions are made thoughtfully and communicated broadly
Drive security, operational excellence, and cost discipline — own on-call health, vulnerability remediation in shared dependencies, and cost-conscious defaults that affect infrastructure spend at scale
What You'll Need:
Proven engineering management experience — you've led or built teams in platform, infrastructure, or developer tools; you know how to hire, grow, and retain strong engineers
Strong technical foundation in Go and distributed systems — you can read code, review designs, and engage meaningfully in architectural discussions about data stores, message brokers, service frameworks, and cloud-agnostic design
Library/platform engineering intuition — you understand backward compatibility, adoption dynamics, migration burden, and the tension between standardization and flexibility
Track record of improving team delivery capacity — you've taken teams with heavy operational burden and improved their ability to ship
Execution and delivery skills — you can break down ambiguous, high-scope initiatives into milestones and deliver incrementally without losing sight of the vision
Cross-functional collaboration — you build strong partnerships with peer engineering teams and leadership; you communicate clearly and influence effectively
7+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years in engineering management or technical leadership with people-management responsibilities
Bonus Points:
Experience leading a platform or developer tools team serving a large internal customer base
Background in building or maintaining widely-adopted open source libraries or frameworks
Experience managing globally distributed teams across multiple time zones
Experience with large-scale SDK migrations, deprecation programs, or library consolidation
Familiarity with multi-cloud strategies and vendor-neutral abstraction design
Experience with AI-assisted development workflows or large-scale automated code transformation
Track record of improving developer experience metrics — adoption rates, onboarding time, support volume
Experience establishing RFC or ADR governance processes at scale
