Job Summary:
The Finance Associate will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This is a startup-style role. Things move fast, can be chaotic at times, and not everything is perfectly documented. We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable figuring things out, taking ownership, and operating with limited structure.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Process Publisher/Customer payments per company guidelines.
- Create monthly invoicing for Publishers and apply payments on a monthly basis.
- Respond to payment inquiries raised by Publishers or the COOL company staff.
- Calculate commissions and bonuses for Sales and Account Managers on a quarterly basis.
- Assist with the processing of employee salaries and contractor payments.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts (vendors, expense reports, etc.)
- Assist the CFO and Director of Finance on ad hoc projects as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with QuickBooks Online and Xero.
- Proficient in Google Office Suite or Microsoft Office products..
- Familiarity with, but not required, Bill.Com, Tally, and Tradeshift.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
- At least 4-5 years of related experience required.
