Finance Global Process Owner, RtR

Hempel, a leading international company in the coatings and paints industry, is looking for an experienced and results-oriented individual to join us as a Finance Global Process Owner for Record to Report (RtR) process.
In this role you will be responsible for defining and driving initiatives to design standard, efficient and automated process, as well as co-driving the related implementation effort to ensure smooth process adoption in the finance organization. As a finance owner and custodian of the RtR process, you will have the opportunity to develop vision, strategy, and objectives for this process, in close collaboration with Heads of RtR and External Reporting.
Starting from 2025, Hempel is embarking on a NextGen Finance Program — a strategic initiative focusing on scalability of our finance function, global alignment and standardization, process & systems excellence and digitalization of data. As a part of NextGen Finance, we intend to reassess, redesign and reimplement our core processes, including Record to Report. As our Finance Global Process Owner (GPO) for Record to Report process, you will work closely with the NextGen Finance workstream leads and play a key part in this transformation initiative.
Your key responsibilities:
Own and maintain process standard, policies and procedures within your process area. Drive policy changes where required.

Drive process transformation, automation and standardization within finance and across End-to-End processes where relevant, in line with Hempel's process excellence governance framework.

Represent finance in relevant global initiatives, including projects, system implementation, etc. Provide input to prioritization and take decisions on relevant process areas, including approvals with regards to finance systems and applications.

Support the Workstream Leads for NextGen Finance program in driving process, system and organizational changes within the Record to Report and related areas, to design and implement standard and efficient process. Support Heads of RtR and External Reporting in process implementation to ensure scalability, operational efficiency and benefits realization.

Coordinate with Finance Process Excellence and operational teams to bring in business knowledge, alignment and ensure effective implementation, including change management and training.

Define compliance requirements to the ERP template and other finance tools and applications (in case of changes to systems, processes or regulatory requirements)

Ensure smooth execution of external audits, acting as one of the key contacts, coordinating as required and managing relations between external auditor and the Global Business Services organization. Responsible for managing process audit in GBS organization.

Ensure that no material control gaps exist within relevant processes and their performance in finance systems / applications. Evaluate and recommend changes to controls due to changes in the process or application landscape.
About you:
In this role you will deal with tasks requiring strategic mindset and a practical approach. We expect you to be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge (both process and functional) of finance area, and understand interdependencies on a strategic and operational level.
It is crucial that you have a deep, subject matter expertise in the Record to Report process. This would typically mean solid experience in operating the process, understanding how it work on detailed level and how to make it efficient. It is crucial that you also have a proven track record of driving similar transformation initiatives – covering process standardization, optimization and automation, as well as implementation in the organization moving from a local to a centralised setup. We also expect you to know how good looks like in terms of the process standard, current market trends and digital enablers that can be applied to a company like Hempel.
It is crucial that you are an excellent communicator with a can-do attitude, you are structured and can consider yourself skilled in managing projects. Experience in driving change across different cultures in a global organization is a benefit. With stakeholder interfaces at all levels of the organization, you should possess a high degree of professionalism, work ethics, natural confidence and authority.
Furthermore, we are looking for:

Education at a Master level in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.

Qualified in Finance & Accounting, including both in-depth knowledge of current trends and best practices and good practical understanding of finance operations. Solid and up to date knowledge of IFRS is required.

Accounting certification such as ACCA or similar is an advantage.

Deep and advanced knowledge of the RtR process (SME expertise), also beyond finance area

Expert knowledge of Microsoft D365 or SAP, including good understanding of ERP setup, template, data, change process requirements. Good understanding of RtR tools and enablers.

Ability to link finance processes with finance operations, systems and data.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving mindset.

Ability to conceptualize, structure and lead cross-functional assignments.

Ability to efficiently influence senior stakeholders across organisation (within Finance as well as wider business).
