Identity platforms at Yahoo provide modern, secure identity offerings for consumers and businesses interacting with Yahoo systems. These platforms operate at massive scale, serving hundreds of millions of users every day, and power critical authentication, authorization, and account management capabilities across Yahoo products.
As part of Yahoo’s transition to an AI-First engineering model, teams increasingly leverage AI-assisted development environments (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) combined with Spec-Driven Development (SDD) workflows, to accelerate delivery while maintaining high engineering quality.
About the Role
We are looking for a Full Stack Software Dev Engineer II to join the Identity organization. In this role, you will work across the stack to build secure, scalable, and user-friendly authentication and account management experiences that serve hundreds of millions of users globally.
A core expectation is the ability to collaborate effectively with AI systems—using structured specs and context to guide high-quality implementation.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and operate scalable full stack systems (ReactJS, TypeScript, Java/Node.JS).
Own features end-to-end: requirements → design → implementation → production.
Work in an AI-first workflow, using AI tools with SDD to generate and validate code.
Improve system reliability, performance, and security; debug production issues.
Continuously improve how AI tools are used across the team, sharing effective prompting strategies, workflows, and best practices.
Requirements
BE / BS in Computer Science or equivalent with 4–6 years of professional experience building full-stack software systems in React.js, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks such as Next.js and Strong proficiency in Java
Strong fundamentals in system design,APIs, distributed systems and web technologies.
Proven ability to independently deliver complex features end-to-end.
Experience with testing frameworks and production-grade engineering practices.
Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools effectively.
Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) in day-to-day engineering workflows.
Nice to Have
Experience with identity/auth systems (OAuth, OIDC, SAML).
Cloud platform experience (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
Familiarity with CI/CD, observability, and performance optimization.
Experience with spec-driven development or structured engineering workflows.
Exposure to accessibility, internationalization, or large-scale consumer systems.
