Reporting to AE’s Generation BD Director in India, the role of the Generation BD Manager in India will play a key role in expanding the company’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) renewable energy portfolio. The role involves leading client acquisition, building and managing channel partner networks, and developing a strong project pipeline across key markets.

You will work closely with channel partners, industrial clients, EPC partners, and internal teams to originate and close opportunities. The role requires strong commercial acumen, a solid understanding of the renewable energy market in India.

Main duties

  • Lead C&I client acquisition and manage relationships with channel partners to originate new renewable energy opportunities;
  • Develop and maintain a strong project pipeline and ensure achievement of capacity and revenue targets;
  • Identify, onboard, and develop new channel partners across key states to expand August Energy’s market reach;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industrial and commercial clients, channel partners, EPC partners, and other key stakeholders;
  • Lead client meetings, present renewable energy solutions, and negotiate commercial terms aligned with regulatory and contractual frameworks;
  • Track market developments, regulatory updates, and competitive activity in the renewable energy sector to identify new opportunities;
  • Support the structuring and closing of renewable energy transactions, including coordination with internal teams on commercial, technical, and regulatory aspects;
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, and marketing initiatives to strengthen August Energy’s brand presence and generate new business opportunities;
  • Develop and execute marketing and outreach strategies to expand the client base in the C&I segment; and
  • Provide regular pipeline updates, market insights, and performance reports to the senior management team.

Work duties typically include:

  • Strong understanding of electricity markets, renewable energy policies, and regulatory frameworks including SERC regulations and open access mechanisms;
  • Ability to review and negotiate commercial contracts and structure transactions aligned with regulatory requirements;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills;
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to drive client engagement and close transactions;
  • Analytical ability to interpret regulatory developments and assess their impact on business opportunities;
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, channel partners, and EPC partners;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while managing multiple opportunities simultaneously; and
  • Willingness to travel to support business development activities.

Other Position requirements

  • Job located in Delhi (India);
  • Travelling across India;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field, with an MBA preferred;
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in renewable energy, preferably in C&I solar or power markets;
  • strong understanding of the regulatory and commercial frameworks governing renewable energy procurement in India;
  • Passion for enabling the energy transition;
  • Spirit of dedication and teamwork;
  • Resourceful and self-driven;
  • Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills; and
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
