Design and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across major providers while owning cloud cost visibility and optimization. Implement IaC, tagging, budgeting and forecasting, build cost dashboards, drive rightsizing and savings measures, and partner with Finance to report FinOps KPIs and adopt cost-management tooling.
FinOps & Cloud Architecture Engineer
Cloud & Infrastructure Team | Full-Time | Mid-Level (7 –12 years)
About the Role
We're looking for a FinOps & Cloud Architecture Engineer who can bridge the gap between engineering and finance. You'll design and maintain scalable, secure cloud infrastructure while owning the cost side of the equation — tracking spend, identifying waste, and building the tagging, budgeting, and forecasting practices that keep cloud costs predictable as we scale. This is a hybrid role for someone who's as comfortable in a cost-allocation spreadsheet as they are in a Cloud knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture
- Maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP) that is secure, scalable, and cost-efficient.
- Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
- Evaluate architecture decisions (compute, storage, networking) for both technical fit and cost impact.
- Support migrations, right-sizing initiatives, and adoption of managed/serverless services where they reduce cost or operational overhead.
- Knowledge of Github
FinOps
- Own cloud cost visibility: build dashboards and reports for spend, forecasts, and budget variance across teams.
- Implement and enforce tagging, showback/chargeback, and cost-allocation standards across cloud accounts.
- Identify and drive cost-optimization opportunities — reserved instances/savings plans, spot usage, rightsizing, storage tiering, idle resource cleanup.
- Partner with business and Finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and unit economics for cloud spend.
- Track and report on FinOps KPIs (e.g., cost per unit, waste %, savings realized) and present findings to stakeholders.
- Evaluate and manage cloud cost-management tooling (e.g., native cost tools, Flexera etc)
Required Qualifications
- 6–10 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, or a related role, with meaningful exposure to cost management.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP); working knowledge of a second is a plus.
- Solid understanding of cloud billing models, cost drivers, and optimization levers (reserved capacity, autoscaling, storage classes, etc.).
- Comfortable working with data — building reports/dashboards in tools like Excel, Looker, Tableau, or native cloud cost tools.
- Strong communication skills; able to translate technical cost drivers into terms Finance and business stakeholders understand.
Preferred Qualifications
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) certification or equivalent.
- Cloud architecture certification (AWS Solutions Architect etc)
- Experience with Kubernetes cost management (e.g., Kubecost) and containerized workloads.
- Familiarity with FinOps tooling.
- Scripting ability (Python, Bash, or similar) for automating cost reports or cleanup tasks.
What Success Looks Like
- Cloud spend is fully tagged, allocated, and visible by team/product within the first few months.
- Architecture reviews consistently catch cost and reliability issues before deployment.
- Measurable, sustained reduction in cloud waste through concrete optimization initiatives.
