JOB DESCRIPTION 

TITLE: Internship Program - Developer - DevOps Integration (DCC)

Role Overview:

As a Developer Intern within the DCC's DevOps community, you will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to the development and implementation of automation solutions for our digital applications. The person joining would like to "code" not just integration and will be able to assist in integrating and optimizing development and operations workflows, gaining practical experience in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our web applications through automation. You will work alongside experienced developers in Agile teams to learn and contribute to technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Internship Responsibilities:

As a Developer Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and contribute across the software development lifecycle, focusing on DevOps integration and automation. Your responsibilities will include:

1. DevOps & CI/CD Automation:

• Learn and assist in the implementation of automation solutions to optimize the software development lifecycle.

• Contribute to the configuration and coding of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Ansible.

• Gain exposure to and assist in the management of CI/CD pipelines.

2. Test Automation & Quality Assurance:

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for web applications and APIs using tools such as Cypress, Postman, or Rest Assured.

• Learn how to identify, document, and track software defects using tools like Jira.

• Assist in debugging and code-level troubleshooting.

3. API & Web Application Development Support:

• Support API automation by assisting in developing and executing automated tests for REST APIs.

• Contribute to Full-Stack Development: Learn Full Stack Development (Backend / Frontend).

  • Assist in both frontend development using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue).

  • Assist in backend development with technologies like Node.js, Python, or Java.

• Help build user interfaces, implement business logic, and develop and test RESTful APIs.

4. Cloud Integration & Infrastructure:

• Gain hands-on experience integrating and managing environments on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS.

• Assist in cloud platform integration for development and deployment.

• Support deployment and infrastructure automation.

5. Test Environment Management:

• Support the setup, configuration, and monitoring of test environments using scripting and automation tools.

• Learn about the configuration, monitoring, and enhancement of test environments and frameworks.

6. Agile Team Collaboration:

• Collaborate closely with developers, testers, and DevOps engineers in an Agile environment.

• Contribute to sprints, technical discussions, and peer reviews to deliver working software solutions.

7. Tool Evaluation & Research:

• Research emerging technologies and tools related to development, testing, and DevOps.

• Share findings to improve team workflows and technical capabilities.

8. Defect Management:

• Assist in Defect Management: Learn how to identify, document, and track defects throughout the testing lifecycle.

Required Skills (Foundational/Learning):

• Software Development Basics:

  • Fundamental understanding of programming concepts.

• Web Application Concepts:

  • Familiarity with web application development principles.

  • (Plus): Exposure to JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, Angular 2+.

• Automation & Testing:

  • Interest in learning automation and testing tools.

• API Understanding:

  • Basic knowledge of API concepts.

• DevOps Interest:

  • Eagerness to learn DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible).

• Cloud Awareness:

  • Willingness to learn about cloud platforms (GCP, AWS).

• Educational Background:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an Engineering degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Soft Skills:

• Learning Agility:

  • Strong desire to learn and grow.

  • Proactive and enthusiastic attitude.

• Communication & Collaboration:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
