BlackRock SMA Solutions helps clients customize portfolios for unique tax, values-alignment, or investment exposures across direct indexing, fixed income, active equity, and multi-asset. About the Role
BlackRock’s SMA Solutions business is establishing a new team dedicated to the support of customized portfolio offerings to Citi Wealth. This role will be responsible for managing a team that oversees the daily investment operations functions in the APAC/EMEA region, inclusive of trade flow management, reconciliation and data quality. The candidate will also work in close collaboration with internal & external stakeholders (e.g. Portfolio Managers, Custodians, Aladdin support) to resolve issues and mitigate risk with a client service mentality. As this offering grows, the role will also support the implementation of new products, distribution channels/clients, new technology deployments and participate in the development of new enhancements to achieve scale. The candidate will also be expected to synthesize, analyze, and present daily/weekly/monthly metrics to senior management.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of three individuals tasked with daily cash and position reconciliation of several thousand separately managed accounts.
- Collaborate with custodians, brokers, and internal partners to resolve issues related to daily processes, daily data delivery, trade settlement, and security setup.
- Lead projects to streamline operations, automate processes, and reduce errors.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for other investment operations team members.
- Monitor the processing of corporate action in the Aladdin Accounting System.
- Respond to various internal and external client inquiries and requests.
- Set up new custodians, platforms, and interfaces.
- Ensure continuous process optimization and improvements are in place for a best controlled, risk handled, and scalable operations service team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in business, math, finance or related fields
- 5-10 years of experience in investment operations at an investment management firm.
- Background in portfolio accounting and performance with experience in Aladdin is a must.
- Track record of building teams to support operational processes.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with senior management, key clients, and internal/external stakeholders (e.g. Portfolio Managers, Custodians, Brokers)
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem solving abilities
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot table, formula driven data scrubbing, VBA) is a plus
- Ability to operate/prioritize effectively and adhere to tight deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances
