Data Scientist (IT Manager) – Commercial Data Science (Retail, Supply Chain & Marketing Data Science), Location – Mumbai, India

Job Summary:

Are you passionate about solving billion-dollar data challenges and transforming raw data into impactful insights? The India Data Science Team at P&G is looking for hands-on leaders who thrive at the intersection of computer science and hard science. As a Data Scientist, you will research, develop, and customize algorithms tailored to various business problems and data types. Your expertise in Operations Research, optimization, and machine learning models—including tree models, deep learning, and reinforcement learning—will be critical to our success.

You will work with vast datasets, utilizing your programming skills in Python and familiarity with data science and machine learning libraries such as OpenCV, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras, and Pandas. You will also engage with our emerging ML Ops infrastructure in Azure and GCP to deploy sophisticated data science solutions.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Develop technical innovation. Constructively disrupt current Data Science practices and design new and better models that transform current and future business processes.
  • Directly contribute to the research and development of scaled Data Science algorithms.
  • Apply thorough technical knowledge to massive datasets with exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model building to deliver accurate and impactful algorithms.
  • Quantify improvement in business areas resulting from use of the algorithms and modeling.
  • · Responsible for building advanced analytic (ML/AI/Optimization) algorithms within a Data Science program and working with Business Partners and Friends of Data Science to insert algorithms into business processes and activate them directly with the business.

Job Qualifications

Qualification and Role Requirements

  • Bachelors in a quantitative field (Operation Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Statistics, Physics, Analytics, etc.), Advanced courses in Business Analytics / Data Science/Data Analytics
  • 0-3 years’ experience with proven leadership in applying and scaling Analytic techniques to deliver impactful insights from data (in academics or in industry).
  • Experience in applying analytic methodologies such as Machine Learning, Optimization, and Simulation to real-world problems.
  • Proven leadership in applying and scaling Analytic and Machine Learnings techniques to deliver meaningful insights from data (in academia or in industry).
  • Python programming language - proficient level (Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, Pydantic, Scikit-Learn, Langchain)
  • Experience with large datasets and cloud computing: GCP, Azure.
  • Experience with Dev Ops environment: Git, CICD, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multinational/multiculture environment
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and Good social skills, self-motivated, dynamic with a can-do mentality.
