About the role:
As the IT Systems Engineer for Motive, you will play a pivotal role in designing, configuring, managing, and optimizing our critical portfolio of SaaS and internally-hosted applications. You will be the subject matter expert for key platforms like Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian Suite, automation tools and Slack, ensuring they are secure, integrated, and driving enterprise productivity. This role involves developing and administering our identity management solution (currently Okta), creating custom integrations, providing top-level support for the IT Support team, and proactively identifying ways to enhance our application ecosystem. We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of owning, operating, and innovating within a dynamic SaaS environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Core Platform Management: Design, configure, implement, maintain, and promote core enterprise applications, with a primary focus on Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence), and Slack.
- Identity & Access Management (IAM): Own and administer Motive's identity management platform (Okta), including SSO (SAML/federated authentication), MFA, user lifecycle management, directory integrations, and access policies.
- Integration & Automation: Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain custom API integrations between SaaS tools to streamline workflows and enhance functionality. Identify and implement automation opportunities.
- Technology Strategy & Optimization: Lead the assessment, selection, implementation, and upgrades of new SaaS technologies and integrations. Collaborate with internal partners to understand business processes, optimize application usage, identify conflicts/redundancies, and articulate best practices.
- Innovation & Enhancement: Proactively research, install, maintain, and troubleshoot application plugins/add-ons. Identify opportunities to "make applications do more than they were built to do" and work with vendors to influence product roadmaps based on Motive's needs.
- Reliability & Scaling: Maintain enterprise application reliability through proactive monitoring and issue mitigation. Ensure applications and integrations scale effectively to support dynamic teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Security & Risk Assessment: Perform application risk assessments, develop risk maps, and implement security configurations and best practices to ensure users and data are protected.
- Documentation: Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for procedures, policies, technical configurations, integrations, and security practices.
- Escalation Support: Serve as a top-level technical escalation point for the IT Support team regarding managed SaaS applications and integrations.
- AI Tools and Use: Enhance productivity by regularly leveraging AI tools in your role as an IT Systems Engineer for Cloud SaaS Applications.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise-level IT services, systems administration, or a dedicated SaaSOps role.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining custom API integrations between SaaS tools (requires coding/scripting proficiency).
- 2+ years of experience managing a Cloud Identity as a Service (IdaaS) platform, with strong expertise in Okta administration.
- 2+ years implementing and supporting SAML and federated authentication protocols.
- Proven experience managing Google Workspace (G Suite) including DNS record configuration, security settings, application policies, and email routing.
- Demonstrable experience administering the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) and Slack at an enterprise level.
- Experience planning, executing, and managing technical projects independently.
- Strong understanding of SaaS security principles and risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with an ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with 1 scripting languages commonly used for integrations/automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Google Apps Script).
- Experience with SaaS Management Platforms (SMPs) like BetterCloud.
- Okta certifications (e.g., Okta Certified Professional, Okta Certified Administrator).
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth technology company.
