Our team develops and supports products such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), Jail Management Systems, and more. The Integrations Team plays a key role in ensuring seamless communication between Motorola Solutions' products, enabling interoperability, operational efficiency, and streamlined workflows for end-users in critical environments.
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Software Developer to join the Jail Team, contributing to the development and testing of a new product served from the cloud.
Your work will involve:
Building new features using Azure Cloud architecture and familiarizing yourself with features of previous products.
Implementing clean, high-quality code that incorporates field mapping, filtering, triggering, and business logic for seamless system communication.
Driving development best practices, including unit testing, coding standards, and code reviews.
Identifying, proposing, and implementing best-fit solutions in a complex and evolving business environment.
Assuring a high standard of quality in all deliverables by leveraging process improvements, clean designs, thorough testing, and peer review practices.
Participating in the entire lifecycle of the solution, including design, development, testing, review, and documentation.
The primary technology used for the Jail team is C# (.Net) and Java Script. Knowledge of Java, relational databases, document databases, and Azure best practices is a plus.
Basic Requirements
Mandatory Requirements (Must-Haves)
Up to 3 years of professional software development experience (includes relevant project work and internships).
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Demonstrated foundational proficiency and practical experience in either Java or .NET Framework (C#).
Working proficiency in relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL), including the ability to write and optimize basic to intermediate SQL queries.
Working familiarity with modern source control tools, specifically Git (e.g., basic branching, merging, and pull request workflows).
Advanced English proficiency, encompassing strong written, conversational, and technical communication skills.
Expected Requirements (Strongly Preferred)
Working familiarity with Agile Software Development practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) gained through academic projects or early-career exposure.
Exposure to or practical experience in creating or consuming RESTful web services (APIs).
Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and exposure to related tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
Basic knowledge of modern architectural concepts, such as distributed systems and/or microservices.
Exposure (academic or professional) to cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) or basic containerization tools (e.g., Docker).
Interest in or connection to the public safety domain (e.g., police, fire, or medical emergency services).
