Job responsibilities
- Design and implement data architecture solutions that align with business objectives and technology strategies.
- Develop and maintain data models, data flow diagrams, and data dictionaries to support business processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data systems and platforms.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data architects and data engineers.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in data architecture.
- Develop and enforce data governance policies and best practices.
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization of data systems to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and efficiencies.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on Data Architecture and software engineering and relevant 5+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced knowledge of architecture and one or more programming languages
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Practical cloud native experience
- Advanced knowledge of one or more software, application, and architecture disciplines
- Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best data architecture solutions for the future state architecture
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data integration or relevant equivalent
- Strong expertise in database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
- Proficiency in data warehouse. Data lake, Lake House, Data Mesh, or Data Fabric architectures.
- Understanding and/or experience with streaming and/or batch data movement including ELT/ ETL processes and tooling (Informatica, Pentaho, DBT, Glue)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience in leading data architecture projects and initiatives.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and practices.
