The Lead Data Scientist will design and build process automation using machine learning and deep learning, collaborate with teams, and produce technical documentation.
What's the role?
Who are we?
- As a Lead Data Scientist, you will help design and build the next iteration of process automation within HERE Core Map workflows by applying machine learning and deep learning techniques. You will work end‑to‑end—from research and algorithm development to production deployment—closely collaborating with researchers and engineers in an agile scrum environment. Your work will directly enable scalable, high‑quality map feature inference used across HERE’s products. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing machine learning and deep learning models for map feature inference and automation.
- Applying stochastic and optimization‑based algorithms to solve complex attribute engineering and modeling challenges.
- Contributing to algorithm design, software development, testing, and deployment as part of a cross‑functional scrum team.
- Developing and maintaining production‑ready ML solutions for mobile and edge‑based platforms.
- Producing high‑quality technical artifacts such as software components, datasets, and white papers for reviews and demos.
- Collaborating with internal and external partners to enhance existing features and deliver new capabilities to production.
- An Engineering degree, Master’s, or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Econometrics, or a related discipline, with academic or applied focus on deep learning, computer vision, machine learning, or optimization.
- 5+ years of professional experience in the data science or machine learning field.
- Strong hands‑on experience with at least one deep learning framework such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch.
- Experience working with edge inference frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite, CoreML, or TensorRT.
- Solid programming experience in Python and C++, along with exposure to shell scripting.
- Practical understanding of deploying ML models in production environments, including testing and performance optimization.
- The opportunity to work on cutting‑edge location and mapping technologies.
- A collaborative, inclusive, and learning‑driven work culture.
- Exposure to global teams and world‑class research and engineering talent.
- Opportunities to grow your technical and professional skills through challenging projects.
- Competitive compensation and benefits aligned with local market standards.
