As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank's Equities Tech Group, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to the development of server-side applications using Java and Spring.
  • Design and develop scalable architectures, ensuring performance efficiency.
  • Implement messaging frameworks, with a preference for Kafka.
  • Develop and execute automated testing strategies, including end-to-end testing.
  • Collaborate effectively within an agile team setting and communicate with key stakeholders.
  • Provide DevOps production support to ensure application stability and address business queries.
  • Mentor junior developers and drive design and code review sessions.
  • Add to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring server-side development.
  • Proficiency with NoSql databases - Cassandra
  • Expertise in designing scalable architectures and developing performance-efficient applications.
  • Experience with messaging frameworks, particularly ActiveMQ, Tibco.
  • Proficiency in automated testing, including end-to-end processes.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide DevOps support and mentor junior team members.
  • Capability to lead design and code review sessions.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience with AWS and cloud services.
  • Good Understanding UI development using React JS/.Net
  • Familiarity with container technologies.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD.
  • Knowledge of SRE concepts, such as monitoring and log tracing.
