About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Android Malware Researcher with deep knowledge in Android malware analysis, reverse engineering, and threat intelligence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing sophisticated Android based threats, developing detection strategies, contributing to advanced security research initiatives and strengthening mobile security solutions.
Day to Day:
- Reverse engineer APKs using tools such as JADX, Ghidra, Apktool, and Frida.
- Identify malicious behaviours including data theft, spyware, banking trojans, and adware.
- Develop and maintain detection signatures and behavioural rules.
- Perform code-level analysis of obfuscated and packed Android malware.
- Identify, validate, and exploit mobile security vulnerabilities.
- Track malware families, variants, and evolving attack techniques.
- Research on zero-day threats, analyze malicious Android applications to identify behaviour, persistence and impact.
- Conduct advanced research on malwares using reverse engineering, static and dynamic analysis, Heuristics, Memory and behavioral based analysis.
- Write technical reports and threat intelligence documentation.
- Creation of tools, scripts and automation to identify, categorize and assist in malware analysis faster, better and more Use of the latest technology, like Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, will differentiate the uniqueness of a product.
- Advocate for security research, findings and threat insights to internal stakeholders and externally through blogs, whitepapers, industry conferences, and strategic partnerships.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging cyber threats, attack techniques, and industry trends to detect Zero-day and unknown malware.
Required Technical Skills:
- 3 - 5 years of experience in Android Malware Analysis and In-depth practical knowledge of AV products and their use to protect the clients.
- Strong knowledge of Android OS architecture and application lifecycle.
- Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and Smali.
- Understanding of Android permissions, intents, and background services abuse.
- Knowledge of network protocols and C2 communication patterns.
- Familiarity with sandboxing and dynamic behavior monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with Android Virtual Device (AVD) for testing and debugging Android malware in a virtual environment along with other tools (JADX, Androguard, APKTool, Burp Suite, Frida, Http toolkit).
- Experience on Malware Evasion Techniques like encryption/obfuscation techniques.
- Experience in creation of Generic and Heuristic Signatures, YARA Rules , to identify easily and provide detection solution promptly.
- Hands-on experience in scripting languages (PowerShell, shell scripting/Python etc).
