Manager, Development (NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, Web API, C#, SQL Server, and Entity Framework)

Lead the QQ Catalyst development team, focusing on technical leadership, team development, architecture decisions, Agile delivery and cross-team collaboration to deliver quality software solutions.
We're looking for a hands-on, technically strong manager to lead the QQ Catalyst development team at Vertafore India. This is not a coordination job - it's a techno-functional leadership role. You'll be expected to understand the technology, own delivery, and build a team that ships scalable, reliable software.
You'll manage a team of developers, QA engineers, and SDETs. You'll guide architecture decisions, improve engineering quality, and ensure every release aligns with customer and product goals. If you're comfortable getting into design discussions, reviewing code, and driving delivery outcomes - this is your lane.
What You'll Do
Lead and Develop People• Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of engineers and QAs.• Set clear expectations, give direct feedback, and invest in growth - no sugar-coating.• Create a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.• Drive engagement through transparency, recognition, and trust.
Drive Technical Execution• Own delivery for multiple workstreams across the QQ Catalyst platform.• Lead architecture and design reviews for .NET Core, C#, and AWS-based systems.• Modernize legacy components using microservices and modern frameworks.• Ensure scalability, performance, and cost efficiency in cloud environments.• Maintain engineering standards through disciplined code reviews and automation.
Lead Agile Delivery• Run an efficient Agile/Scrum process - planning, sprint execution, retrospectives.• Partner with Product and QA to align on priorities and clear blockers fast.• Push for predictable, high-quality releases without compromising long-term stability.
Collaborate Across Vertafore• Work closely with Product Management, Cloud Ops, and Architecture to turn business goals into technical plans.• Join customer conversations when needed - you should be able to explain the 'why' behind what we build.• Balance new features with platform health and tech debt management.
What You Bring
Core Technical Skills• Deep, hands-on experience with .NET Framework / .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, Web API, C#, SQL Server, and Entity Framework.• Strong grasp of AWS services, system design, and cost optimization.• Solid understanding of architecture patterns, scalability, and performance tuning.
Nice-to-Haves• Frontend experience with HTML5, Bootstrap5, Angular/React, JavaScript/jQuery.• Exposure to Microservices, CI/CD, RabbitMQ/AmazonMQ, Application Insights.• Understanding of TDD, DevOps pipelines, and observability practices.
Leadership Experience• 3+ years of managing software teams in a product engineering setup.• Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and hold teams accountable.• Experience leading through ambiguity, driving clarity, and delivering results.• Comfortable working with distributed and global teams.

Commission plans are tailored to each sales role but common components include quota, MBO's and ABPMs. Salespeople receive their formal compensation plan within 30 days of hire.
