About ScienceLogic…

ScienceLogic is redefining IT operations for the modern enterprise. Our AIOps platform empowers organizations to achieve Autonomic IT — where systems are self-healing, self-optimizing, and seamlessly aligned with business outcomes. We help enterprises and service providers gain unified visibility across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, automate workflows, and unlock performance at scale.
We’re accelerating digital transformation through the power of automation, AI, and analytics — giving IT and business leaders the tools to deliver superior customer experiences, drive efficiency, and innovate with confidence.

What we’re looking for…

ScienceLogic is hiring an Engineering Manager for our PowerPack team based in our Hyderabad office. This role will manage a team of approximately 20 software engineers and SDETs responsible for the development, quality, and ongoing evolution of the PowerPack portfolio. You will report to the Director of Product Engineering (India) and will be a member of the India engineering leadership team. This is a people-first leadership role with meaningful technical responsibility. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who can build trust, develop future leaders, drive execution, and thoughtfully apply AI-enabled practices to improve engineering outcomes.

What you’ll be doing…

You’ll lead a team of approximately 20 engineers comprised of full-time employees and, covering responsibilities across:

People & Growth:

• Conduct regular 1:1s with team members, providing coaching, feedback, and career development support.

• Hiring: run screening and calibration with recruiting partners, and own onboarding for new hires.

• Management of Contractors performance monitoring and support through contractor-to-FTE conversion process.

• Performance management and career development conversations that go beyond the annual review.

• Team health across the org: morale and psychological safety, not just velocity metrics.

• Conflict resolution and mediation to keep the team cohesive under pressure.

Delivery & Execution:

• Weekly alignment with your Product Owner on priorities, roadmap, and backlog, and with the leads you're developing as they take on more scope.

• Sprint execution accountability across both working groups, including capacity planning.

• Handling major or complex escalations, including regular syncs to work through what's outstanding.

• Tracking delivery metrics (velocity, uptime, bug counts, deployment frequency) and reporting progress, risk, and dependencies to stakeholders.

Technical Leadership:

• Architecture and design review for pull requests, ensuring sound technical decisions across the team's work.

• Promoting engineering best practices: testing, code review, documentation, and CI/CD.

• Sponsoring and helping lead cross-team technical initiatives, such as major platform migrations and release-process automation.

• Running demo sessions and hands-on skill-building with the team on key technical areas.

AI-Enabled Engineering:

• Identify where AI creates real leverage in your team's engineering workflows, and act on it yourself, not just approve it from a distance.

• Work alongside engineers to design and deliver AI-enabled solutions to real product and delivery problems.

• Build your team's capability to use AI as a working tool, including hands-on training for engineers who are still building that muscle.

Org Design:

• Today, the org runs flat: you manage all 20 engineers directly, organized across two informally-led working groups.

• A key responsibility of this role is to identify and develop emerging leaders, establish a Team Lead layer, and evolve the organization into a more scalable team structure over time.

Qualities you possess…

Experience:

◦ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline

◦ 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3-5 years leading engineering teams.

◦ Proven track record of delivering high-impact software products, with the willingness to roll up your sleeves and work directly with engineers when needed.

◦ Experience managing engineering teams of this size directly, and a track record of developing individual engineers into first-line leaders, even where that title doesn't formally exist yet.

◦ Self-starter with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments.

Technical Competence:

◦ Strong understanding of modern software architecture and distributed systems.

◦ Proficiency in Python and REST APIs, with familiarity across other technology stacks.

◦ Proficiency in database technologies and event-driven architecture.

◦ Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), CI/CD, and testing methodologies.

◦ Hands-on, personal experience building or shipping at least one AI-enabled feature: you were in the technical problem, contributing to design and trade-offs, not sponsoring or approving someone else's work.

Leadership & Management:

◦ Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, with a visible track record of developing engineers with diverse experience levels and career aspirations.

◦ Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and retain high-performing engineering teams, with strong delivery instincts across sprint accountability, capacity planning, and cross-team coordination.

◦ Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

◦ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with engineers, peers, and senior leadership.

As a plus, you have...

• Experience in a GCC, IDC, or other geographically distributed engineering environment.

• Product engineering background: ownership of outcomes, not just delivery of tasks.

• Familiarity with AIOps, monitoring, observability, or enterprise SaaS domains.

• Engineering background with hands-on depth in Python, REST APIs, or cloud-native development, enough that you're credible in architecture and design conversations, even though you won't be writing production code day to day in this role.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum at scale, where ceremonies drive outcomes rather than checkbox rituals.

• Familiarity with JavaScript and frameworks like React.

• Exposure towards Spec Driven Development(AI-DLC) and or TDD

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification.
