• Lead and drive inland operations across assigned geography,
ensuring operational excellence, service reliability and cost optimization
while delivering superior customer experience.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize inland logistics, rail operations
and network performance through continuous process improvement and
data-driven decision making.
• Partner with Customer Service and Commercial teams to understand
customer pain points, improve inland service delivery, reduce customer effort
and proactively minimize operational escalations.
• Drive inland business growth by providing market intelligence, operational insights
and customer-centric logistics solutions in close collaboration with Commercial teams.
• Lead initiatives to maximize equipment utilization by reducing empty repositioning,
identifying cabotage opportunities and improving container turnaround.
• Develop and drive rail network optimization strategies, including block train planning,
FIFO implementation, VDS development and improved rail service reliability.
• Establish operational governance through regular KPI reviews, analytical reporting
and performance dashboards to drive continuous improvement.
• Lead cross-functional projects involving Commercial, Customer Service,
Equipment Management, Procurement, Rail Operators, Terminals and
Global/Regional Operations teams.
• Identify opportunities for digitalisation, automation and standardisation of inland
processes to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
• Represent Hapag-Lloyd at industry forums, customer meetings and strategic
discussions with key inland logistics partners.
• Coach and mentor team members while fostering a culture of ownership,
collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Improvement in Inland Operational Performance across assigned corridors.
• Achievement of LAB (Loaded as Booked), OTD (On-Time Delivery) and
Service Reliability targets.
• Reduction in customer escalations through proactive operational management
and process improvements
• Improvement in customer experience by reducing customer effort and
standardizing inland processes.
• Reduction in empty container repositioning and improvement in equipment utilization.
• Successful planning and execution of Block Train operations and
optimization of rail capacity utilization.
• Long-stay container reduction through timely follow-up, monitoring and
destuffing coordination.
• Effective ODEX coordination and governance for inland operational activities.
• Vendor performance management, rebate optimisation and commercial compliance.
• Delivery of inland cost optimisation initiatives and measurable operational efficiencies.
• Development of VDS opportunities and support towards inland business growth.
• Active participation and leadership in Area, Regional and Global operational projects.
• Representation of Hapag-Lloyd in trade forums and industry platforms.
Skills & Competencies
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to communicate
effectively across all organizational levels.
• Advanced analytical capability with strong proficiency in Excel, dashboards,
data interpretation and business reporting.
• Excellent PowerPoint presentation skills with the ability to present business cases
and operational insights to senior management.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to balance customer requirements,
operational efficiency and commercial objectives.
• Demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, problem solving and process optimization.

Qualifications• 10–15 years of relevant experience in Container Shipping, Inland Logistics,
Rail Operations or Integrated Supply Chain Management.
• Graduate in any discipline (Mandatory).
• MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations or Business Management
will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of ICD operations, rail transportation, equipment management
and inland logistics networks.
• Experience in developing operational strategies, process optimization
and performance improvement initiatives.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and operational reporting tools.
• Working knowledge of FIS, Compass or equivalent logistics systems.
• Exposure to analytical tools will be an added advantage.
