This Grade 28 leadership role will manage and mentor a team of engineers while remaining hands-on across solution design, full-stack development, implementation and production issue resolution. The successful candidate will combine strong engineering leadership with current technical depth in Azure, .NET, Python, React, HTML and CSS, GitHub-based delivery practices and responsible use of AI-assisted engineering tools.
Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing engineering team, setting clear priorities, ownership expectations, engineering standards and individual growth plans
• Balance people leadership with hands-on contribution across architecture, design, coding, code reviews, debugging and resolution of complex engineering issues
• Own the end-to-end engineering delivery plan for product capabilities, including estimation, sequencing, dependencies, risks, milestones, implementation and production readiness
• Guide solution and application design for secure, scalable, maintainable and resilient products hosted on Microsoft Azure
• Design and develop backend services, APIs and integrations using .NET and Python
• Design and develop responsive, accessible and maintainable user experiences using React, HTML and CSS
• Ensure effective integration between frontend, backend, data, cloud and external services across the full product lifecycle
• Establish strong GitHub engineering practices, including repository management, branching, pull requests, peer reviews, quality checks and release traceability
• Promote the responsible and effective use of AI tools for software design, development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting and engineering productivity, with appropriate human review and security controls
• Partner with product management, architecture, user experience, quality engineering, DevOps, security and business stakeholders to translate product needs into executable engineering outcomes
• Lead implementation and release readiness, ensuring environments, deployment plans, validation, rollback approaches, support coverage and stakeholder communications are in place
• Analyze application, platform and integration logs to isolate failures, identify root causes, implement fixes and prevent recurrence
• Drive engineering quality through design reviews, coding standards, automated testing, observability, performance analysis, security practices and technical debt management
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, pairing, constructive feedback and opportunities to lead design and delivery
• Create realistic plans, manage changing priorities and communicate delivery status, risks, trade-offs and decisions clearly to stakeholders
• Foster a culture of ownership, curiosity, rapid learning, collaboration, continuous improvement and customer-focused product engineering
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 12+ years of overall software engineering experience, including meaningful experience leading or managing engineering teams
• Solid hands-on full-stack development experience across frontend and backend technologies in production software projects
• Solid experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud-native application design, deployment, security, monitoring and scalability concepts
• Solid backend engineering experience using NET and Python, including API development, integrations and service-oriented application patterns
• Solid frontend engineering experience using React, HTML and CSS, including responsive design, component development and frontend integration
• Experience with GitHub-based source control, pull requests, code reviews, branching strategies and collaborative development workflows
• Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve design, coding, testing, documentation, learning or troubleshooting, with awareness of responsible-use considerations
• Solid understanding of product development and implementation across discovery, design, build, test, release and post-production support
• Solid foundation in software design principles, secure coding, automated testing, maintainability, performance and operational readiness
• Demonstrated strength in planning, estimation, prioritization, dependency management, risk management and execution across multiple workstreams
• Demonstrated ability to analyze logs, debug complex issues across application layers, determine root causes and deliver durable fixes
• Demonstrated excellent communication, stakeholder management, collaboration, mentoring and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and business domains quickly and apply them effectively
• Proven ability to manage and mentor engineers while contributing directly to design, development, code reviews, debugging and implementation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree or relevant Azure, engineering or AI certifications
• Relevant Microsoft Azure, software engineering or AI certifications
• Experience developing products in a large, regulated enterprise environment, preferably health care or financial services
• Experience with Azure application services, containers, serverless architectures, managed databases, identity, messaging and observability capabilities
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, API management, caching and distributed application patterns
• Experience with CI/CD, automated quality gates, DevSecOps practices and cloud deployment automation
• Experience with production support, performance tuning, reliability engineering and secure software delivery
• Knowledge of generative AI application patterns, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation or integration of AI capabilities into software products
