We are seeking a seasoned MEP Senior Engineering Design professional with strong experience in building services design, design peer reviews and commissioning verification. Mechanical bias expertise is preferred and the candidate should be fully experienced in autonomously leading multiple MEP projects and managing an engineering consultant team. Specific experience required for large commercial real-estate buildings, office fitouts and mission-critical facilities such as data center and banking/trading facilities. The ideal candidate will be based in India and able to lead and coordinate MEP design assurance and commissioning for global projects — ensuring code compliance, operational resilience, and on-time delivery while coordinating across international stakeholders and vendors.
QualificationsKey Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead and manage MEP design reviews (concept → IFC) for offices, trading floors, data centres, critical ICT rooms, covering HVAC, electrical, public health, fire protection, ELV, and controls.
Validate designs for resilience and redundancy (N, N+1, 2N) in electrical and HVAC systems, including UPS, STS, PDUs, generators, switchgear, and precision cooling systems.
Review design of trading floor environments (zonal HVAC, acoustics, high-power density, raised floor integration) and enterprise data rooms (CRAC/CRAH, containment, precision cooling, fire suppression).
Drive commissioning verification: develop/approve Cx plans, pre-functional checklists, functional performance tests, TAB plans, FAT/SAT witness protocols, IST and seasonal performance verification.
Ensure redundancy/topology requirements (N, N+1, 2N, 2N+1 etc.), UPS testing, transfer schemes, generator/load-share controls, automatic changeover logic and emergency power sequences are correctly designed.
Manage BIM coordination & clash resolution with architects, structural and IT/telecom teams; verify MEP as-built models and handover deliverables.
Oversee design reviews of critical subsystems for trading floors: raised floor HVAC, precision cooling (if needed), HVAC zoning for occupant comfort & acoustics, high-power tenant fitouts, dedicated power distribution for trading desks and trading servers.
Review and witness FATs/SATs for major plant (gensets, UPS, switchgear, chillers, AHUs); approve vendor test reports and ensure remedial actions are closed.
Coordinate with IT/Network teams and vendors for ELV/ICT rooms, power quality for sensitive equipment, grounding practices to minimise electrical noise and transients.
Interpret and map global codes & international standards to local regulations; prepare deviation/ equivalence reports and advise on AHJ permitting for cross-jurisdiction projects.
Mentor junior engineers, lead technical workshops, and represent the engineering team in client & stakeholder meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
10+ years of progressive experience in MEP design review and commissioning verification for commercial real-estate and/or mission-critical banking/data environments.
Demonstrable experience working on international projects and coordinating remotely across time zones. Candidate should be based in India.
Professional registration desirable (Chartered/PE or equivalent) or strong demonstrable project track record.
Client-facing with excellent technical communication (reports, presentations, and clear short-form technical notes).
Strong stakeholder management across owners, global engineering teams, contractors and vendors.
Proactive problem-solver with attention to detail and strong QA discipline.
Comfortable operating across multiple time zones and sensitive to client confidentiality/operational security needs common in banking/trading environments.
Standards & codes (expected knowledge)
International: ASHRAE (55, 90.1 guidance), IEC, NFPA (13/70/72 etc.), IEEE guidance for electrical systems, ISO standards for quality/energy management.
India / Local: National Building Code (NBC), relevant IS (BIS) standards for electrical/mechanical installation, Central Electricity Authority (CEA) guidelines where applicable, local municipal bylaws and fire regulations.
Data Centre frameworks: Uptime Institute Tier standards (focus on Tier III), TIA-942.
Sustainability/Certifications: LEED/IGBC/BREEAM/WELL familiarity for commercial real estate projects. Ability to map global standards to local statutory requirements and prepare equivalence reports.
Technical skills & knowledge
Electrical: LV/MV distribution, UPS design & testing, gensets and paralleling, ATS/transfer schemes, earthing/grounding, short-circuit/fault studies, power quality.
HVAC: central plant design, chilled water systems, AHUs, DOAS, pressurisation, zonal control for trading floors, precision cooling for telecom/ICT rooms.
Fire & Safety / Plumbing: sprinkler systems, smoke control, fire detection & alarm design (including interfacing with BMS), plumbing/drainage, stormwater considerations.
Commissioning & Testing: Cx plan creation, pre-functional & functional testing, TAB, FAT/SAT, IST, seasonal performance testing, commissioning documentation and O&M handover.
ELV/ICT: raised floor considerations, power for low-latency equipment, UPS segmentation, NOC/Server room environmental controls, structured cabling immunity to interference.
BIM / Tools: Revit, Navisworks/Clash detection, AutoCAD; analysis tools such as HAP/Trace/IES for HVAC, ETAP/SKM/ETAP-like for electrical. Familiarity with CD/CE tools (Procore, Aconex, BIM 360) is preferred.
BMS: Good knowledge of BMS systems
The role is full time remote in India, with intermittent project and business related travel expected.
