We're looking for a Network Engineer to join our rapidly growing office in Mumbai. You'll be responsible for the design and management of both our enterprise and trading networks, optimising our systems for reliability, scalability and performance characteristics, like latency, to help us remain competitive in the market.

Optiver’s bespoke infrastructure offers a diverse network engineering experience. Advance your career in a unique environment, where you'll be supported to find the simplest solutions to some of the most complex problems in the financial markets.

WHO WE ARE

Optiver is a global market maker founded in Amsterdam, with offices in London, Chicago, Austin, New York, Sydney, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei and Mumbai. Established in 1986, today we are a leading liquidity provider, with close to 2,000 employees in offices around the world, united in our commitment to improve the market through competitive pricing, execution and risk management. By providing liquidity on multiple exchanges across the world in various financial instruments we participate in the safeguarding of healthy and efficient markets. We provide liquidity to financial markets using our own capital, at our own risk, trading a wide range of products: listed derivatives, cash equities, ETFs, bonds and foreign currencies.

In Asia Pacific, Optiver was one of the first global market makers to establish a presence in the region, with the incorporation our Sydney office in 1996. Since then, we have expanded our footprint by establishing offices in Taipei (2005), Hong Kong (2007), Shanghai (2012) and Singapore (2021). The business in Mumbai is newly established and deemed to be an integral part of the APAC strategy, with an anticipation of significant growth over the coming years.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As the first Network Engineer in Mumbai, you will:

  • Be responsible for the infrastructure underpinning our trading and non-trading activity, including office networks and a complex WAN environment. Our infrastructure needs to be reliable, fast and well supported and our Network Engineers are constantly making optimisations in reliability, capacity, scalability and latency.
  • Build intimate knowledge of exchange environments, as well as Optiver’s trading systems, influencing low- and high-level designs.
  • Deploy, monitor and configure network infrastructure, as well as support end-to-end infrastructure deployments in Asia Pacific data centers.
  • Build, manage and support our complex international WAN environment.
  • Collaborate with developers, researchers and hardware engineers on projects that require a stable and scalable platform to operate on.
  • Automate, monitor and benchmark our various networks and systems.

WHAT YOU'LL GET

You’ll join a culture of collaboration and excellence, where you’ll be surrounded by curious thinkers and creative problem solvers. Driven by a passion for continuous improvement, you’ll thrive in a supportive, high-performing environment alongside talented colleagues, working collectively to tackle the toughest problems in the financial markets.

In addition, you’ll receive:

  • Competitive remuneration, including an attractive bonus structure that is unmatched in the industry. We combine our profits across desks, teams and offices into a global profit pool, fostering a truly collaborative environment.
  • The opportunity to work alongside diverse, intelligent, and driven peers in a rewarding environment.
  • Ownership over initiatives that directly solve business problems.
  • Training, mentorship and personal development opportunities
  • Competitive benefits
  • A work-from-home allowance and support

WHO YOU ARE

  • Extensive experience designing, implementing and supporting complex networks using L2/L3 networks and technologies.
  • Deep understanding of routing, switching and firewalls.
  • Proficient with a scripting language e.g. Python, Bash or Shell.
  • Comfortable overseeing and working with Unix systems, and have managed data centers.
  • Experience in procuring, monitoring and managing diverse international LAN/WAN networks.
  • Proven ability in delivering projects end-to-end individually and in a team environment (initiation through to implementation).
  • Own certifications, like CCNP or CCIE.
  • Experience working with trading networks, or designing and building ultra-low latency networks using L1/FPGA based network devices.

We encourage applications from candidates from any and all backgrounds, and we welcome requests for reasonable adjustments during the process to ensure that you can best demonstrate your abilities.
