The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs has (1) full-time opportunity available for an Office Specialist 2 (Claims Data Entry Specialist) located at ODVA Headquarters in Salem, Oregon in a hybrid (work from home/in-office work schedule).
This is a permanent, union represented position within the Appeals & Special Advocacy Division.

What you will do!
The primary purpose of this position is to support the Appeals and Special Advocacy Division, and County and Tribal Veteran Service Offices, by performing claims processing, data entry, and quality assurance functions. The position monitors multiple electronic databases, fulfills file research requests, and transmits all required casework to the USDVA.

What are we looking for?
Office Specialist 2 Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR an associate degree in any field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidates who are most competitive will also reflect the following:
- Demonstrated professional, thoughtful, and effective communication and customer service skills, with a commitment to providing responsive and effective support.
- Proven ability to accurately process high-volume, detail-oriented work while meeting strict deadlines, managing shifting priorities, and maintaining strong organizational standards in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in keyboarding, data entry, and maintaining accurate records, with the ability to interpret, apply, and adhere to written policies, procedures, regulations, and quality standards.
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams) and experience using VetraSpec, VBMS, or similar case management systems.
Additional Requirements:
This position requires successful completion of a fingerprint based criminal history background check through the Oregon (LEDS) and National (NCIC) law enforcement data systems. A valid Oregon or Washington State driver’s license is required; must also undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, with ongoing monitoring as a condition of continued employment.

This position will be based out of ODVA’s Salem Office; however, the successful candidate will be eligible for hybrid (work from home/in office) work schedule. The logistics of hybrid work will need to be worked out with the Hiring Manager prior to your hire and may be changed at any time given specific job duties and business needs.
Remote work is evaluated periodically to ensure business needs are being met and can be adjusted at any time. ODVA will provide necessary hardware (laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and cell phone) for an employee to successfully work from home.
