Smartly is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our Global Finance Team in Manila! In this role, you will assist with payroll responsibilities and administrative tasks.
This is an exciting opportunity to work, learn and help us further develop a successful global payroll function. In this role you will play a supporting role in coordinating and supporting the local payroll providers in 12 different countries.

Your role is an exciting combination of working closely together with both Finance and HR teams, as well as contributing hands-on activities to ensure smooth monthly payroll processes.
As Payroll Specialist at Smartly, you will…
- Assist and support with co-operation with local payroll providers around the world to ensure timely and accurate payments
- Support with collection of monthly payroll material including expense reimbursements, company bonuses, allowances and stock options
- Support all employees and managers with payroll / process related questions and requests
- Work closely with the local payroll providers and Smartly’s Finance and HR teams to ensure seamless payroll operations and data integration
- Work closely with the Smartly Finance team to ensure accurate payroll transactions for financial reporting, including general ledger (GL) posting; reconciliations and statutory payments
- Ensure all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding, and employer contributions are met on a timely basis
- Assist the Smartly Finance team with payroll-related tax and audit queries
- Assist with managing the accuracy of time tracking, time offs and absences in our HRMS platform Workday
We're definitely looking for you, if you have…
- 1-3 years experience in a similar role
- Genuine interest and passion towards payroll and payroll related technology and processes
- Experience with ADP
- Understanding of core payroll management and processes as well as payroll-related accounting
- Good Excel (and preferably Google Sheets) skills
- Basic understanding of employment laws and regulations affecting the payroll process (labour law and collective agreements)
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate cross-functionally
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Have strong spoken and written communication skills in English
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise
