About the role
We’re seeking a curious and analytical Portfolio & PMT Analyst to join our high-performing Portfolio Analysis team. This role supports AGL’s Physical Market Trading (PMT) teams by delivering high-quality analysis and modelling to optimize our wholesale energy portfolio across electricity, gas, and renewable energy certificates.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders across trading, origination, finance, and risk to support strategic decisions and contribute to AGL’s decarbonization journey.
What You’ll Be Doing
Provide analytical support to optimize AGL’s wholesale energy portfolio.
Model and plan portfolio performance using advanced tools and techniques.
Support trading strategies for renewable and firming capacity assets.
Assist in preparing reports on fuel positions and market impacts.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic and ad-hoc projects.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of in-house analytics systems.
What You’ll Bring
A passion for the Australian energy market and the energy transition.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a foundation in statistics or modelling.
A tertiary qualification in a quantitative field (e.g. Mathematics, Engineering, Econometrics).
3+ years of relevant experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Exposure to tools like Plexos and programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or Java is highly regarded.
