Role Description:
The Portfolio Quality Analyst supports Associate Portfolio Managers to ensure accurate and efficient portfolio decisions. Their work supports the foundation of the investment process, and when done effectively, identifies and solves daily challenges in the investment lifecycle. They could work across all asset classes and collaborate closely with teams throughout the AB enterprise, including Operations and Technology teams. A Portfolio Quality Analyst must show an interest in financial markets and will develop a deep understanding of our products, operational policies, and procedures.
The team lead position will oversee the growth and impact of the team and will be proactive in identifying process improvement opportunities. This individual must show leadership abilities partnered with the investment and technical understanding needed to provide new solutions or reengineer an existing process. They will interact with the Heads of our Equity, Fixed Income, and Multi-Asset PMG teams to provide solutions to the needs in each business.
What You’ll Do:
A Portfolio Quality Analyst supports the daily tasks of Associate Portfolio Managers in implementing portfolio management activities. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing start-of-day quality control checks to verify data accuracy and integrity
- Assist in reviewing portfolio to identify strategy dispersion, validate lifecycle events, or investment workflow completion
- Examining and investigating post-trade compliance alerts to ensure adherence to investment guidelines
- Supporting the account opening process by initiating market openings, ISDA requests, system setup, and other activities to ensure readiness.
- Testing client guidelines to ensure correct coding and compliance with internal standards
- Assisting in preparing investment and portfolio reports
- Supporting routine or ad-hoc client requests
- Identifying opportunities to re-engineer and automate processes to boost operational efficiency, improve client service, and strengthen risk controls
What We’re Looking For:
Candidates should possess exceptional attention to detail, along with the ability to think logically and make sound decisions quickly, often juggling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Specific qualifications include:
- A master's degree with two to five years of relevant industry experience
- A motivated self-starter with a passion for process improvement and using technology to solve complex problems
- Strong interest and experience in financial markets, especially asset management
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills and a strong desire to work in a team-oriented environment
- Deep understanding of risk management and the overall control environment
- Strong soft skills such as adaptability and creativity
- Experience with Fixed Income, Equities, Currency, and/or Global Markets is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and exposure to coding is a plus; SQL, Python
