What will you do?
● You are a hands-on technical leader with exemplary bioinformatics skills. You are a natural problem solver who intuitively identifies risks, issues, gaps, and dependencies and brings people together to define solutions and make decisions.
● You will be the voice of constructive technical challenge, ensuring that all non-functional needs are understood, technical debt is kept low, security and data protection are never compromised, performance and cost are optimized in a cloud environment, and guardrails are adhered to in line with agreed policies.
● Work alongside Product Managers, Software engineers and subject matter experts to define a technologically deliverable roadmap and perform high quality, timely and accurate product development using most relevant state-of-the-art methodologies, tools and resources in agile environment.
● Work alongside with product strategy and other stakeholders to define technological aspects of future product strategy.
● Provide technical excellence to broad product initiatives, Lead and deliver on complex projects, and interact with cross functional teams without supervision.
● Committed to offering innovation, finding opportunities to enhance ways of working (including processes, methods, technology etc.) and sharing new techniques and lessons learned pro-actively with peers.
● Look for innovation opportunities to plan, implement and execute POCs with a willingness to experiment and to boldly confront problems of large complexity and scope.
● Collaborate and make proposals across several teams on their work and helps team members make informed decisions in alignment with the products’ strategic plans.
● Present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
● Interact with customers, vendors and partners and other internal and external stakeholders as a consultant and spokesperson for the work of your department.
● Guide conversations to remove blockers and encourage collaboration across teams.
● Ensure and evangelize best bioinformatics and software development practices and standards are followed throughout bioinformatics organization.
● Teach, mentor, grow, and provide advice to other domain experts, individual contributors, across several teams in the department.
What do you bring to the table?
● Ph.D degree with 8+ years of postdoc or industrial experience or Masters Degree with 10+ years of industrial experience in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Computational Biology or related field
● Technical background in healthcare, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices or pharmaceutical companies
● Excellent programming skills in Python, R and Shell scripting
● Experience with Relational database such as postgreSQL, mySQL or Oracle
● Experience with version control systems such as GitHub.
● Experience with Linux/UNIX/Mac OS X based systems
● Experience with high-performance Linux cluster and cloud computing (AWS is preferred).
● Deep understanding of analytical approaches and tools for genomic data analysis along with familiarity with genome databases. Candidates with proven expertise in the analysis of NGS data generated on sequencing platforms such as Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, or 10x Genomics will be prioritized.
● Proven ability to innovate with a history of new or improved product releases.
● Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators
● Exceptionally strong communication, data presentation and visualization skills.
● Personal initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
