Position Summary:
Perforce is searching for a Principal Software Engineer to join the team. The Principal Software Engineer will have extensive experience in software engineering with the ability to build robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions that meet the evolving needs of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Produce hardened distributions of Kafka that contain tested security patches by managing and extending workflows, automations, and automated tests suites to produce secure hardened Kafka releases.
- Maintain and enhance Perforce Java applications including a graphical library of components used to accelerate the creation of Java GUI applications. This components library allows Java developers to quickly create mission critical graphical applications to display information through tables, Gantt charts, maps, charts, and other user interface components.
- Peer-review the work of other software designers and mentor them
- Continuously review and make recommendations to improve processes, tools and implementation
- Collaborate with other engineers to develop and enhance a wide range of static code analysis tools.
- Participate in high level system design and implementation of significant new features.
- Create clean, well-tested code and deliver the highest quality software.
- Provide task estimates and accurately report progress as part of an Agile process.
- May be required to support additional products/brands as needed.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work within a cross-functional team
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject
- 12+ years experience with Java
- Experience with Apache Kafka
- Experience in 2D graphics, mapping, and/or user interface development
- Experience with Apache Tomcat and other application servers
- Experience with Maven and Ant
- Experience using CI systems
- Experience in developing Java Swing
- Experience with test-driven development
- Experience with object-oriented analysis and design using common design patterns
- Experience learning and managing an existing code base to improve it and expand its capabilities
- Ability to work independently
- Strong zeal to contribute to Open Source community
- Experience with version control, especially git
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.
