Title: Principal Software Engineer

This person will focus on the design, implementation and maintenance of an FSx on NetApp file server and SharePoint environment. This role will involve working closely with business users to understand requirements, leading technical discussions, and building scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in file storage and SharePoint management, a proactive approach to system optimization, and a collaborative mindset to partner with internal teams and external vendors. Key Responsibilities
System Engineering and Design
- Lead technical design discussions with business users to translate collaboration requirements into engaging and functional SharePoint solutions with modern user interfaces.
- Design, implement, and maintain FSx on NetApp file server environment to support file storage needs.
- Build, test, deploy, and maintain customized SharePoint applications through the agile software development lifecycle, ensuring the solutions are robust and user-friendly.
Technical Support and Maintenance
- Manage SharePoint site collections, sites, subsites, libraries, and pages, including creation, migration, and archival to support evolving business needs.
- Provide additional support for in-house workflow management tools that integrate with SharePoint.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal infrastructure, security teams, and external vendors to troubleshot and resolve complex issues across SharePoint and file server environments.
- Regularly manage content databases to maintain efficient performance of SharePoint platforms.
- Provide operational support of the current AWS (Windows Server) environment and assist in the transition to FSx on NetApp.
Monitoring and Security
- Conduct periodic audits of existing systems to ensure compliance with security policies, including role assignments, licensing, and permissions for SharePoint and file server usage.
- Actively monitor system storage and take proactive actions to prevent capacity-related issues, ensuring seamless service for end-users.
- Perform change management for both system and application changes, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience with system engineering, focusing on file server management, preferably FSx on NetApp or similar file storage solutions.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint, including experience in site collection, library management, and custom application development.
- Familiarity with agile software development practices.
- Proven experience in change management and a strong understanding of security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a collaborate approach to working with both internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with AWS environments, specifically Windows Servers on AWS
- Strong knowledge of database and performance management for large-scale SharePoint deployments.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in cross-functional collaborations and drive projects to completion.
