A Day in the LifeMedtronic is expanding their footprint for Diabetes Care with a center in Pune and as a Principal System Engineer, for Digital Technology, India, this role is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of complex systems across various platforms, including SAP and Salesforce within Digital Technology.

As a Principal System Engineer within Digital Technology, this role requires a broad knowledge of systems engineering principles and the ability to adapt to a wide range of technical environments.

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex systems, ensuring integration across hardware and software platforms.

  • Serve as a technical expert for SAP and Salesforce systems, providing guidance on best practices, integration, and performance optimization.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot system performance issues in SAP and Salesforce environments, identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with software developers, IT operations, and other engineers to ensure seamless system functionality and optimization.

  • Provide technical support and expertise throughout the system development lifecycle, from planning to deployment and maintenance.

  • Define system requirements, create documentation, and ensure proper testing and validation of systems.

  • Monitor system performance, stability, and security, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.

  • Develop and maintain system architectures, ensuring scalability and reliability.

  • Create and maintain system documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and technical manuals.

  • Ensure proper integration of SAP and Salesforce with third-party services, APIs, and external systems.

  • Participate in system upgrade and migration projects, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

  • Ensure effective disaster recovery and business continuity plans for systems.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

  • 7-10 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role. 

  • Hands-on experience with SAP systems and Salesforce (e.g., Sales Cloud, Service Cloud) environments. 

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and system virtualization technologies. 

  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems. 

  • Experience with systems automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. 

  • Solid understanding of network configurations, load balancers, firewalls, and security protocols. 

  • Good to have Certifications in SAP (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate) or Salesforce (e.g., Salesforce Certified Administrator, Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder).

  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices in IT service management would be a plus.
