Job Summary:

Executes complex buying strategies in accordance with agreed upon material buying plans, specifically focused on improving supplier overall performance and capacity ahead of demand.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducts complex analysis of sourcing information and presents findings to Procurement and Supply Chain leadership for process improvement while maintaining high quality product and service delivery. Supports linkage between procurement and manufacturing facilities and will serve as communication conduit between manufacturing and the suppliers. Prepares and presents recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action to Senior Procurement/Sourcing leadership. Evaluates consistent application of sourcing procedures and processes. Supports Procurement/Sourcing management in activities such as vendor management, industry and market analysis, process analysis, and model building. Leads analysis projects/initiatives providing coaching to less experienced analysts. Develops effective relationships with vendors and suppliers favorable for company business. Manages capacity, delivery and issue resolution projects. Support of engineering releases and other change management processes. Responsibilities

Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet the function's needs and contribute towards continuous improvement.
Procurement Ethics - Avoids supplier engagement that may compromise supplier sourcing, selection, and management processes and seeks counsel to ensure compliance.
Procurement Policies, Procedures, Tools - Understands all of the relevant Procurement policies and procedures and complies with them in daily work; Masters all tools required to conduct procurement work. Knows how to access documents in the appropriate Document Management System (DMS) and/or who to ask if clarification or expansion of the information contained in each document is needed.
Supplier Capacity Management - Leverages Cummins marketing forecast processes and data required from suppliers for capacity planning; negotiates capacity requirements in supplier contracts to deliver the lowest Total Cost of Ownership; links interrelationship between capacity management and product quality; assesses suppliers to ensure that they are capable of meeting Cummins total demand for both production and aftermarket.
Supplier Performance Management - Leverages functional roles and responsibilities to appropriately manage supplier performance; negotiates defined metrics and supplier management processes to ensure robust management by all functional stakeholders; assimilates cross-functional, cross-site performance data across geographies; ensures suppliers awareness to performance deficiencies and communicates Cummins expectations relative to continuous improvement.
Supply Base Risk Management - Minimize supplier risk to Cummins by proactively mitigating risks through use of risk analysis tools and risk mitigation playbook to manage three key risk: 1) Continuity of Supply, 2) Reputational Risk, and 3) Risk to our Margins of parts. By minimize disruption and services throughout supply chain. Manage and leverage supplier selection and dual sourcing opportunities as a first line of defense against supplier risk.
Problem Solving - Solves problems and may mentor others on effective problem solving by using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and ensures actions to prevent problem reoccurrence are implemented.
Project Management - Establishes and maintains the balance of scope, schedule and resources for a temporary effort (a “project”). Ensures results/impact from temporary effort are fully realized as possible.

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
Any engineering Graduate (Mechanical preferred)
Experience: 
8-10 years of relevant experience required.

Overall Objective:
Ensure uninterrupted supply, minimize operational risks, drive continuous improvement with suppliers, and deliver sustainable business results through strong collaboration, data-driven decisions, and disciplined execution.

  1. Ensure Supply Continuity & Plant Operations: Proactively identify, manage, and resolve supply continuity risks impacting manufactured material commodities and plant operations.

  2. Drive Effective Stakeholder Communication: Maintain timely, accurate, and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring proper escalation and close-looping.

  3. Build Strong Supplier Relationships: Develop and sustain strong partnerships with suppliers to enhance collaboration, responsiveness, and long-term business continuity.

  4. Lead Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with key stakeholders, peers, business units, and suppliers to resolve issues and achieve organizational goals.

  5. Implement Sustainable Problem Resolution: Drive root-cause analysis, A3 problem-solving, corrective actions, and permanent fixes for continuity-related challenges.

  6. Manage Improvement Projects: Lead supplier-focused initiatives covering capacity enhancement, quality improvement, delivery performance, and overall supply chain efficiency.

  7. Provide Data-Driven Business Insights: Perform spend analysis, identify cost avoidance opportunities, and present solutions using accurate data, facts, and structured reporting.

  8. Drive Governance, Reviews, and Reporting: Lead supply continuity reviews, maintain real-time trackers, monitor action plans, and ensure compliance with Cummins policies and procedures.

  9. Support Strategic Business Initiatives: Coordinate Technology Day events, special projects, new developments, and additional responsibilities with agility and business focus.

  10. Demonstrate Business Excellence: Align all activities with Cummins Mission, Vision, and Values while fostering a “Space of Understanding,” promoting bottom-up escalation, and ensuring business-centric decision-making.

    Manage Supply Chain Disruptions: Proactively identify and resolve supply chain disruptions by working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

  11. Drive Supplier Collaboration: Develop strong supplier relationships and collaborate with suppliers to address supply, capacity, quality, delivery, and commercial challenges.
  12. Demonstrate Strategic & Commercial Mindset: Apply strong strategic and commercial understanding while making supplier-related decisions and balancing business, cost, capacity, and continuity requirements.
  13. Lead Supplier Negotiations: Drive commercial discussions and negotiations with suppliers to achieve competitive and sustainable business outcomes.
  14. Drive Cost Reduction: Identify and execute cost reduction and cost avoidance projects in collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  15. Drive Capacity Ramp-Up: Work with suppliers to plan and execute capacity ramp-up initiatives based on business and plant requirements.
  16. Execute Supplier Agreements: Coordinate and support the execution of commercial and contractual agreements with suppliers, ensuring alignment with business requirements and Purchasing processes.
  17. Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing: Partner closely with the Strategic Sourcing team to align sourcing strategies with supply continuity requirements and overall business objectives.
